cosmicnutter
Just bought a 1.8td 1997 mk6 escort to do long runs, which is why i bought a diesel. But over time, when i dont need it for long runs anymore, could i put a petrol engine in it? the diesel engine is painfully slow and would like a 1.8 or 2.0L petrol engine one day. In another thread, someone said - ive had a 18 and 18 td and thay are both slow thats wey i putting in a 18 or 2L ZETEC ENGINE GOING PETROL I was wondering if this was possible? Thanks In Advance

vinnyvangough
It depends what you want. The easiest way to do it will be to have a full donor car. That way as long as the car is running, you have everything you need to swap it all over, ie loom, ecu fuel lines etc etc. As to what engine its entirely up to you, you may want a 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 or even a 2.0. But for a job like that i would def go for a full donor car so you have everything you want. I had a 1.8 16v zetec (115bhp) engine in my escort van and !Removed! hell it shocked a lot of people.
