ICV Idle Control Valve , common problem it will be on your air inlet / inlet manifold but maybe a focus guy could help you more, sorry
my escort had the similer problems and after a few cleans i just replaced it,

THANKS SKIP......WISHED I STILL HAD MY ESCORTICV Idle Control Valve , common problem it will be on your air inlet / inlet manifold but maybe a focus guy could help you more, sorry
