Over a distance of 21 miles, about 10 miles on a motorway and the rest was a slowish crawl through the city centre and around the outskirts of town.

Very very impressed!

The above was the 'average' display by the way :)

Come back to me when you can average over 60mpg over the whole tank without trying :P

very impresive but try not to labour the enigine to much when running in as ive heard it can do more damage than revving it hard.

Wasn't labouring it, was taking revs up to 3500 and allowing it to settle down to a cruise :) Was actually a bit higher than that, gave it a spirited final mile or so to work over a nice long 60mph bridge zone ;)

ahh i see , well if u can get 52 mpg from a new engine doing 3500 rpm , you should be about to get 58-60 mpg after its first service and changing gear at 2200 rpm :) i can get 74 mpg out of the focus diesel if i really try :)

Most the time I change up at about 2000rpm but I never let the engine labour, you just use more fuel! I'm just a sensible driver, don't cane it but I do give it a good going through the revs every now and then to let the engine bed in!
