dLockers
No guide? Or info?
iNath
No guide? Or info? It's not something you can do yourself. You need Ford VCM, IDS, laptop & asbuilt data file from Ford. Then the know-how to rewrite the code and upload the new file.
dLockers
I'm a software engineer for Accenture. Blind me with science, I am keen on getting this working, if you don't mind.
iNath
Get your asbuilt file from Ford, decode each of the 256 bytes to work out what each one does then amend the cruise control one so that it is active. ...or ask me nicely ;)

Lez
Hi iNath! I would like to ask you very nicely! :D I have IDS VCM as well. soo how after?
iNath
The whole point of this thread after the first post was to ask you, lol. What hardware components are required also? The problem is there is no point in me making a guide as 99.9999% of people on here would not be able to do it. Things you need are: steering wheel from a Titanium (or just silver trim, cruise buttons & cable), Ford IDS + VCM & a Ford employee with access to Ford asbuilt data. I was lucky enough to be a position where I have all of those and the patience to sit on my laptop for hours on end breaking down Ford's code and rewriting my own to enable (and disable) specific features (finally turned off the stupid 'shift up' indication on the dash!) Hi iNath! I would like to ask you very nicely! :D I have IDS VCM as well. soo how after? You need the steering wheel and your ASBUILT xml file from Ford. Preee
XML is not difficult , and you would easily define each set of instructions needed to machine switch rules on or off , you may have trouble getting the Code in the first place though.

Oh the xml part is easy. To help explain more I'll share the code from my car: FC9C170001006002010211010803000000020002000001010201000402000003000101000000000002000002070105000100000083000000000003020001000224000301031316653100020202000001000001000200010001010000000004000001000000000000000007040002000101030200010002000001000002040100000000000000000200010000000003000400020000000200000000040000050000000000000000000000000200030000020000020000000005000001020000010001000000000000000001000200000000000000000000040001000102000001000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 That contains every detail about my car from the engine & fuel type to the radio & cruise control (even cloth/leather seats! Though I doubt amending that part would give me leather...) I sat on my laptop working out what [most of] those numbers mean and then amending the ones I wanted. I will look at making a program that decodes, amends and compiles it for me (so the dealer part is not required) but that's a long way off right now. dLockers
The Asdata.xml file is universal then in that case. We don't need our own, just 'any' and then we can fine tune our own features based on that. It looks very simple in comparison to what I thought, but I can't believe only the wheel is required? I thought it required braking components as well? Can you not post your explanation of each segment? You seem unwilling to help, not very car club-like if you don't mind me saying. I appreciate it was hard work to decode, but don't you want to help others?

All wiring is there you need just the cruise control steering wheel 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 wires goes to the radio and cruise control... may if you do not have radio control you not have any off this...
dLockers
Hmm, that's quite reassuring then. Simple swap of the wheel and an hour of a Ford employees time.

dLockers
So are you planning on offering any assistance in terms of decrypting the XML file? Or not?
antman99
iNath, did you manually modify the xml file as if you did and you could provide the decryption details then I would happily make a program regenerate the contents of the file. However I need to know the process of getting and writing the file as I have no idea although do have an OBD2 reader using USB - RS232 convertor. Let me know.
