autocrackpot Posted January 26, 2012 Share Posted January 26, 2012 I have recently done an engine change on my mk3 petrol zetec and have managed to !Removed! up the timing.Can anybody advise on how to reset it as there are no timing marks on pulley. the car starts but sounds like a diesel on a bad day. autocrackpot Posted January 31, 2012 Author Share Posted January 31, 2012 it is possible to alter the timing on a mondeo, certainly during an engine change.If the engine is turned backwards the timing chain goes slack and can jump a tooth.As i bought the engine from a breaker without the flywheel the engine could have been turned backwards when removing this. I have now been informed that to time this engine you require a crank locking tool which is inserted via a plug in the block, this locks the crank at TDC.
