Hi all i got myself a fiesta saturday was fine up until yesterday the vents were just blowing cold air out but if i turned the blowers off i could feel just a tiny bit of warm air then nothing is this the hcv or thr resistor module, also on the hot to cold knob should it click at any point indicating cold to hot?

whats the engine coolant temp guage reading when you're doing the test? is it running too hot? if so the coolant isn't flowing correctly and this could be caused by a number of things - water pump, low coolant, leaks etc etc

alternatively it could be that the electronic valve between hot/cold is broken (i believe the Mk4/4.5 had an electronic valve rather than a manual one)

also is it a diesel or petrol? the endura diesels can take a considerable amount of time to warm up.

let us know how you get on.

Its a 1999 1.3 petrol ive flushed the radiator out top it back up and its still the same ive had this before on a previous fiesta ghia the pipes where they go into the bulkhead where the valve is get hot as well

It does sound like its your HCV. It doesnt click as you switch between hot and cold, but if you were to set it in the middle, the solenoid on the HCV should open and close to control the temperature of the coolant passing through to your heater matrix. Its this that normally gets stuck.

+1 to btmaldon on the HCV since everything else seems to be in order

its cheap as chips for the part as well and not too difficult to replace so I would try that and see what happens

It's certainly a common problem. I replaced the same part on my 2001 Fiesta, mine would only blow warm air and when switching to cool nothing would happen. Once replaced it was fine, but does take a short while to change over to cold. It's about as perfect as I can get it so not going to worry too much now, most importantly I have some control over the temperature!
