Yeah I noticed the focus in their vid too.

I was waiting throughout the last season for them to review it. Glad they're finally featuring it.

Maybe its a zetec s and the owner has put an ST badge on? lol though surely the car experts would have noticed that

anyone cared to think they may have just any plates on them? doubt ford would have sent out a 'fake' st to the biggest car show in the world

Edit: an un-released car wouldn't be registered anyway would it

I did think that but then thought surely we would have seen something online about it, even if just spy shots etc.

Yeah, def ST, due out later this year in 5 door and estate versions (No 3dr!!!), some shots of the estate can be seen http://www.ford.co.uk/Cars/FutureVehicles/focus-st-wagon was also on the autoexpress website http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/motorshows/paris-motor-show/256987/ford_focus_st_official_pictures.html

Its from the film The Sweeney which is in post-production - Ford have supplied the cars and the one in the picture is the new FOCUS ST (although that particular car may not be as they wont want to wreck an ST). Here is a couple of links :)

Hope that helps guys :)

Yeah, most probably they got Ford to mock up the standard Focus as a ST for filming as they would most likely go through a few in getting the action right and using a real ST would cost a lot more.

Still, seeing that makes you want to sob.

Nice to see they have Ben Drew in the film, he was good in Harry Brown and love Plan B.

It certainly looks like an ST but as others have mentioned probably a mock up as the clip shows crashing (I cringed when I saw it) Hopefully they'll be reviewing the actual ST too, it's about the right time to, by next series it would have already been released, we know Top Gear like their hot hatches, and this ones got a fair amount of hype, so I'll be looking forward to the upcoming episodes!

do you think they are worried about writing off a st when they wrote off a jag xf if you read the top gear mag they said they had a budget off 3.5 million for the chase sequence

Capital letters, commas, full stops, correct spelling..

Why write off an actual ST, when you can write off something worth less that looks the same? It could be a similar situation with the XF - it might look like a top of the range model but actually could be a tarted up bottom of the range car.

Even so, always seems such a waste when they go and write off a perfectly good new car. Like the little red thing they had a while back (what was it again?) which they drove upside down through a sewer (even though it was fake), destroyed, then jumped it into the sea. As amusing as some of these things are to watch I hate seeing it!

It's quite possible that the ST is actually worth a lot more than the standard car will be - I doubt that it's in the standard state that it left the factory in.

Look at Casino Royale - the DBS didn't have enough grunt or the right sound for what they wanted, so one of the cars was stripped out and fitted with an even bigger lump and ridiculous exhausts. Then of course the one in the crash was a mere Shell. This scene is probably no different - they will have had several cars, some with roll cages - hell sometimes they even use LHD cars but leave the RHD interior in, that way they can have their star at the wheel but someone else controlling the car.

At the end of the day - it looks like an ST, the important thing is that we will be seeing this car in the UK before long.

And akaray - while I'm with you on the need for correct punctuation etc - we don't make an issue of it here, it tends to drive some people off.

Renault Twingo with Ross Kemp in the boot. :)

That's the one.

A lot of cars Top Gear use are demo models from the manufacturers and have been thrashed by every journo in the country.

Remember when they played football with aygo's?

The companies don't expect them to come back in one piece.

Still a waste though.

What difference does it make can you read it yes ? thought so .I wrote it quickly whats the problem .

Don't apologise - you're not alone and it wasn't a telling off.

What I will say is that the majority of posters on FOC do use punctuation (which does make posts much easier to read) and those who do tend to get more replies and become part of the community more easily.

I agree it's a waste of a good car, even if it isn't a real ST!

Ford spend millions on advertising and marketing their models though, so for the cost of one car, they are getting some pretty decent advertising to millions of people on Top Gear.
