Auto On Heated Screens

Both my heated screens come on automatically when i start up - only if the outside temp is cold enough to light the yellow/red frost led on instrument cluster. Obviously noticed this over the last week or so. Not a major problem as i just turn them off if screens arent frozen but just wondered if anyway of overiding this. I dont really like starting it up from cold with extra load especially in this weather!

Must be a new thing as mine dont unless i press the button the front screen uses a lot of juice

Mate at work has a 2009 ZS , his come on Automatic .

I have Titanium 2010 and mine don't come on automatic !

What i have not tried yet is set the air direction to screen before i start the car which i will do in the morning to try as i know Aircon comes on auto on that setting.

Setting it to windscreen will only do the aircon do you have climate control as that may switch it on

Not sure if its the same as yours but mine only switch on once the engine is running - so not putting any extra load on starting

Mine is not Climate , and neither is my mate's ZS but like i said his activate automatic and mine don't.

One thing i hate about the Quick clear is the fact that it does not cover the sweep of the wipers , so even if you use it and its frosty or ice , then if you don't scrap the ice from where the quick clear misses then you can wreck the Wiper Blades

One quick similarity i have just noticed , Mate's ZS is a 1.8 , Greggp is a 1.8

Mine is a 1.6 , maybe larger engine bigger battery and therefore activated via auto because of a larger battery/bigger engine

been in at least 6 focus not one of them has done that :/ also noticed that some of the cars has a little chrome strip on the airvents and some dont lol also some focus have a chrome/metal door rests and some dont , some have soft tocuh materials on the doors some dont, and have seen the aux in 3 diffrent places , god knows what happens in that factory lol

just had a readof the book and it does not state these should come on automatically it actually tells you that you press on to switch on and off to switch off and to only use the heated screen when necessary as it is a high draw item

my focus puts the heated windscreen on and rear de-mister automaticly on start up in cold conditions, providing the heater is switched on manually.

Im pretty sure my heated screens came on automatically on the Sport last time I used it on a cold morning up North.

Thats not in the manual as artscot says but I just noticed it does say putting the heated screen on defrosts the washer jets at the same time. I hadn't realised that.

I will do some testing tomorrow as its -5 outside lol , at the moment i seem to have a duff focus lmao

First thing that gets put on is the heated seat's damn i love them :) , now i want a heated steering wheel as i end up driving the first mile holding it by my finger tips haha

On my 2008 Focus Titanium, both the heated screens come on automatically when the outside temperature is below zero C, but not until the engine is running, they then can be turned off if not needed.
