Hi. I recently bought a 2005 1.6 tdci focus. It started making a puffing sound coming from the injectors. I inspected this further and there is a bit of white/grey smoke coming from injectors too. It's just done shy of 91k miles. Does anyone know what this could be?

Im no diesel expert but it sounds like the injector seals need replacing. Someone with some diesel experience will hopefully be along to give a more informed view.

Yes defo sounds like injector seals easy to replace as long as the seat does not need recutting just had all my injectors out and cleaned just made sure seat was clean and free from debri by adapting a van nozzle with a small diametre pipe in to get into the bore then taped a piece of rag to a flat headed screwdrive to run around the seat so it was nice and clean replaced injectors torqued down and no problems.

It also depends on how easy the injectors come out of the head. The longer the seals have been blowing harder it is to get the injectors out. Even if you have one or two seals blowing, I would change all four of them. I'm not sure if the injectors are coded, but if you keep them in order than you should have no problems.
