Tony Mehmet
I'm pretty new to modding cars and would like to know if this would be a good start, and what would be the best induction kit and if theres anything else i need to do long side it. Cheers Tony
artscot79
depends on what youre trying to achieve an induction kit makes noise thats it any hp gains die as soon as the engine creates enough heat to get heat soak then youll get less hp than the standard filter. if the noise is what you want get a kn kit and buy a heat shield to fit round the top half to prevent some heat soak then fit the cold air feed. if you want better air filtration and a bit more power then buy a kn panel filter and drop that in then remove the rectangular noise reducer on the right hand side of the airbox and add a cold air feed where the hole is www.focusowners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=17235&start=
ukphillad
An Induction kit is basically an air filter. Also like artscot79 wrote they create the extra noise , so if you want to tune your car it seems like it's a win/win situation. However, there are some downsides to this. As the filter is fitted in the warm engine bay, it will suck in a lot of warm air, which carries less oxygen! If you want to make the best out of your induction kit, you really need to think about fitting a cold air feed pipe to compensate for that :D Induction kits barely ever give any sort of HP increase so if it's power you're looking for there are better ways of adding that. (eg. Chip tuning!!) B)
