silverfox1970
Has anyone fitted after market parking sensors to a mk 4 mondeo before and is there a thread on here??...I was thinking of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220864142753?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 just a little worried about the wiring connections,i assume they have to be wired to a reverse light? Which colour wire would that be?? Also i was thinking if i get matt black ones and mount them in the black bumper strip would that be ok?? Thanks in advance all.... Preee
I have fitted aftermarket reverse sensors to my Focus and it was very easy , if your lucky , check if you can on the inside of the bumper with a torch and see if there are markings on the inside of the bumper for reversing sensors , they are there for the mk2.5 focus which made location very easy not sure of the Mondeo though , but if not then carfull measuring will be required. If you rmove the reverse light you will be able to see which wire to tap into , again the wiring is very easy as there will be only earth and feed from your reverse light to wire in. In my Sig there is a guide on how i fitted mine to my Focus it mat help it may not. But well worth fitting them. Some on eBay will actually match the colour of your car to the sensors if you don't want them to stand out.
btmaldon
I would buy a cheap circuit tester and use that to check which wire is live with the ignition on. Also check that it is not live when in neutral. The black strip on the bottom of the bumper is probably the easiest place to fit it as there is nothing in the way behind it. The only thing is you need to get the outer sensors as wide as you can.
Stoney871
Be sure that you check the optimal height of the sensor placement before fitting, the markings on Ford bumpers to fit sensors is designed for their own kits. Aftermarket kits may need to be at a lower position. When i had sensors put on mine last month, i thought they would go on the black bumper trim at the top as per standard fit but they were fitted about 6 inches lower due to the differences of the sensor patterns. Togger
I fitted a set to a V70. Very easy job to do, but they were a bit hit and miss. Found them unreliable - worked sometimes, then other times they would continually sound. Not a clue what they were picking up.
focus steve77
Have fitted the after market sensors from eBay, on focus, mondeo, mazda, and saab they cost £10 or little more from eBay and work a treat most cars have a plstic strip in the rear bumper which where i always situate the sensors, then if you look where your spare is you will see a rubber gromit somewhere under the carpet run the wires up back of bumper through gromit, take some boot interior trim off run wires along to lights a choc block to reversing wire supply, then position the speaker for sensor where desired all in all bout 20-30 min job and just as good as factory fitted, just be patient a measure along the strip and mark before drilling so there all neat and about 25-30cm apart
fintious maximus
Just got a set to fit - before I get going, is it easy to identify the reverse light wires? ... had a quick look earlier to see where on the bumper to drill holes for sensors and the only place to put them (due to rest of bumper having metal behind it) is the black plastic strip at the bottom of the bumper or do they need to be higher from the ground? Also, the plastic strip is angled slightly downwards so would the sensors work or just pick up on the road surface? Mine is an estate... fintious maximus
Before I go ahead and make holes has anyone fitted to the bottom black strip on an estate rear bumper?
