No DPF, No DMF, No self destructing turbo due to oil starvation., easy to work on and reliable.
Yes it is true that the engine is an old style 8 valve but as mentioned, it is the only fully Ford engine in the whole range and has proven itself to be robust and reliable.
Our vehicle buyers are even changing over the fleet from 2.0 to the 1.8 due to rising costs of servicing and maintenance.
The mechanics at my unit deal with some 40 - 50 cars, (primarily Focus but a couple of unmarked Fiesta and Mondeo and other specialist vehicles thrown in for fun) they much prefer the 1.8 and gave me excellent advice before i dug my money out from under the mattress.
I kept putting in requests for a ST as a work car but was told as soon as they produce an estate one i would be at the front of the list... Hint Hint Ford???
I guess until then i'll have to put up with a 2.0.

I don't know the tax figures for the 1.6 TDCi, but I believe there are two versions (90 bhp and 110 bhp)
