Hi, I've just bought a kuga and love it. Having a problem streaming music through bluetooth which I've posted elsewhere. I'm only 5'4 with size 3.5 feet and I have no problem reaching pedals and driving it!! Previous car Mazda MX5 so just a bit of a change. :D

A point of interest , I bought my 58reg Kuga Titanium 4x4 new- then at 44000 miles the front n/s drivedraft & CV joint snapped- luckily at 5mph on the M25 -5minutes earlier or later could have been interesting but an accident suddenly slowed me. Sadly a few months out of warranty - ford not interested apparently "too many variables".........whatever...., as I am the only driver my driving must be very erratic or the part was not suitable for its job !! £600 3 more to go at any time !! I will say bye bye to it in the new year and to ford after owning escorts, sierrras, focus and mondeos after 40 odd years. The bitterness has subsided but it will Korean or Japanese next time.

I'm picking mine up on the 1st of March 2013, then I take it on a run down to Bournemouth for four days should have some idea how it goes on motorway and town, they tell me the fuel is ssshhhitttteeee. I'm a wheelchair user so all in all a good way to find out if I got myself a Donkey or a stallion, now how's my luck go again.... Oh Sugar!

Well I have picked it up and drove down to Bournemouth very nice drive, but just got in four people's luggage and the wheelchair, I have to say we used the small cases and holdalls. Dealer put in £20:00 of diesel fuel light was still on meaning needle was in the red, which to a mennine like me, has now put me in shock, dealer told me the cruise control will not work under fifty mph, but reading the manufacturer vehicles book says nothing of this, so will be still finding out what's what for a few days yet.

Overall review is so far 6 out of ten.

which model did you get Ray? 4x4 or 2 wheel drive? petrol or diesel ? and photos would be nice ;)

cruise usually doesn't work under 20 mph in any car i know every car i've had with it thats been the case..

fuel economy is always relative I've been used to Big V8 petrol engines for the last 30 plus years so anything over 15 mpg is good for me lol my last Truck only did 10mpg but was !Removed! quick ;) and even my daily driver (the car i'll be replacing with my Kuga only does about 24 max on commute to work ) and i've never worked out what the Pajero does when towing but i'm guessing not a lot lol. anyway i'm off for a test drive tomorrow, then provided i like the drive will be ordering one..

oh and the MPG will improve when you've got a few miles on the clock, my wife gets a new car every 6 months and we've noticed they do much more to the gallon when they are about to be returned, so look on the bright side it will get better, and you must be about my age and can remember when £20.00 would fill your tank unlike today when it's £6.00 a gallon for derv so £20.00 is just over 3 gallons, i can remember when i was 18 had a XJ6 Jaguar and it cost £40 to fill both tanks it was 50p a gallon less than 12p a liter then How times have changed :( .... Happy Days then ;)

Hi Kuga x, sorry for the delay, I still do not know if the cruise control work below fifty mph as the wifey is always in the driver seat, not complaining love being chauffeured around, she will not do any of the technical side, she just loves it.

For me the front senses not working, they staying on and fortunately their is an on/ off button so it's off now, other then that brought four adults down with four cases powerchair, been out and about for about six miles in all today, so again no real chance to see if the cruise control works under fifty, but that will get sorted.

I thought, the titanium, would have had ambient lighting, but No, disgraceful, still trying to work out the radio, it's all fun really, a Eamon.

Sorry Eamon, you asked what it was, pics to follow. It's a two litre one six three ps powershift diesel this auto box is working a treat, sugar, watch it blow up now. I hope this is what you asked , just ask away. Sugar it's frozen white as well and awd.

almost the car I'll be getting, going for a test drive this morning dealer is letting me have it for a couple of hours just to see what i think, last new car i bought i didn't test drive and regretted it from the moment of delivery (wont be doing that again). good hear feedback on the auto box, as thats about the only thin i''ve not decided on, keep swaying between man and auto.. i was thinking of going for the 19" wheels but am now thinking for ride quality might stick with the 18" and maybe have another option ;) with bells and whistles ;) lol

thanks for the update hope it's ticking more boxes for you as you run it in ;)

Well back form the Test Drive, and wow what a lovely motor, luckily the test car was the Titanium X which will be the model i get abit in a different colour (never been a fan of Silver Cars).

but 1st impressions are very good.

My parents can both get in and out with ease (both in their 80s )so a good start.

driving position is limitless and found a really comfortable driving position in minutes,

everything easy to reach (although the stereo looks like it might take a while to get used too )

Leather seats very supportive and decent leather (not on par with my Bentley but different class of car but looks like it will stand the test of time adequately )

Loved the auto tailgate ;) and looks like we'll be going ahead and buying one.. just need to decide on colour .. white is favorite at the moment, and wheels the test car had 19" which i like the look of in photos but not so sure in the flesh and the sales girl did say that the ride is better with the stock 18" ( and replacement tires will be cheaper ;))

so at the moment it's going to be a

Ford Kuga 2.0TDCi Titanium X 5dr AWD Auto

with
Driver Assistance Pack –Blind Spot Information System, Lane Keeping Aid and Active City Stop
Keyless entry with hands Free Power Tailgate
Convenience Pack - Power folding door mirrors, Active Park Asst
Detachable Tow Bar
Frozen White Paint
Appearance Pack Roof Rails and privacy glass

Plus mats, Mudflaps, rear protection thingy etc

delivery dates are likely to be Mid May to Mid June (Ford blame it on the amount of Titanium X models being ordered and leather supply :) Still I'm happy to wait to get the car I want, and after a good hour and a half test drive with a mix of city streets Dual carriageway and country roads the only thing i couldn't test was towing the caravan but i can't see that being a problem.

oh and Ray, Cruise control worked at speeds over 22 MPH and at 85 MPH (on Private road of course ;) ) didn't try any faster than that but reckon it will probably work up to the cars Max speed ;) if needed on Autobahn ;)

I've been told the better ride on the smaller wheels, me I'm happy with the wheel size, just the !Removed! roads here In Bournemonth, thinking more like caterpillar tracks might be worth an option.

I think you be very happy with it, you going to be splitting hairs what ever you decide, as on all the models on this range, Ford are going the right way, just recently. Go blue oval.

Eamon. You will love the toys and gizmos on it, but they are on most cases intuitive so enjoy from an envious Kuga driver lol. Best of all is the enjoyment you get from having it.

Yes Eamon, I have got the wifey to let me play with it as she drove, so yeah, crap what he said, but mind you I think I've been playing with the limiter to be honest, but I get it back tomorrow, to drive back to home so be playing with it all the way back, got to get this silly grin off my face, getting embarrassed. Ray

lol yea Ray, i love my gizmos lol, I've always had Black with a couple of Red cars for years and as they don't do the Kuga in red, that's made the choice a bit easier ;) Black or White, Good to hear you're enjoying your new car, when you going to take some photos and put em up here ;) they only had a silver or black Kuga at the dealership and although it looks good in Black White is favorite,So post some piccys up please .. oh and as i live in Norfolk (pot hole capital of the world ) I'm thinking 18" wheels I've had a couple of American trucks on 20" and great on open road but shook the fillings out of my teeth on the roads local to me ;)

Looks Awesome fella I'm really glad we've gone for white now definitely the colour to have (well if you like white ;) )

whats your marks out of 10 now ?

as for the reg number question I think its down to your personal choice (i guess someone could clone/ copy you car from photos on a forum, but then they could do that while you're driving down the road, heard about someone cloning number plates to use in London for the congestion charge, but that could just be urban legend ;) )

Was not sure about the site being more or less against . Marks out of ten, well that's pretty subjective, I am hard old sod when it comes to given anything, but the car is new the smell is great, 1st 13 plate and all that you have to factor out, the facts are the front senses don't work, one, the Eag knew this, but did nothing to sort it out, in fact try to hide the fact it was not working, and even tried to say you'll never use them, only the back ones your need, to me that's not good thing to be doing. This is not Ford ,its EAG but they represent them, so that bit is Ford, the car itself is good, but I want what you getting, more toys and gizmos to play with. Dam sorted all mine already, got no ambient lighting. The bonnet took some time to learn to open it, but real easy when you know how.

Your gonna love yours I tell you, that for nothing, tip go somewhere no one else is, cos your end up like me and the neighbours thinking flash git showing off, but it's a great thing to play with. Enjoy it Eamon I know I will, yours that is. Lol.

if its fitted its got to work i'd take it back and get them to fix it fella, my neighbors already think I'm flash/Crazy, when i brought the Bentley home if only they knew i'd taken it in part ex with the Chevy Truck i'd just sold and got some cash ;) and the Kuga is worth a lot more than the Bentley, i also have a couple of Morris Marinas so they are never surprised with what I bring home, and all get me to hook up my OBDII Reader on their cars when they have problems so all good really

I'm really looking forward to getting ours now, we're on holiday in May and it's looking like it's not going to be here till we get back, hope it arrives before the last week in May as i've got to go down to eastbourne on business after my hols and would be a good first drive, get some miles on the clock and run it in ho

w about a nice side photo next ;)

all the Best

Eamonn

Oh yes it will be sorted, you can trust me on that. The colour was never a choice we had to have this one or wait and we needed to have it, as we was a way on the first of March and would have had to hirer a vehicle, at the cost of a £125 a day, I wanted panther black keyless entry and boot opening thingy. Only got this side piccy gives a small idea what your be doing down Eastbourne way when your back of your holibobs.

Are we the only ones on this Kuga site, thought there would be chat on here about this and that, I took this off and te back door fell off, has this happened to anyone else, but no! Not even a bar on this site so we could get some cheap drinks in here.

Put it down to the all new smells of plastic lol. Just keep thinking one day nearer to getting it, then you can put some piccys up too.

Nice, right old knees up then.... Oh no I mean all that hard work lol yeah I know what you mean rather be somewhere else then listening to one or other banging on but his that or other and then the bit you want talk about is over before it began, but someone got to do it.

I'm not a union man myself but the unions have lost the political party it once ran, now the Oxbridge lot have it (cons in a small c) the workers have no say and all them strikes we had in the seventies all for nothing....Ray calm down you know what your like about politics, just shut up.

lol Oh yes Ray Party lol no seriously i hate all politicians they are all just out for what they can get for themselves, I'm Union to help and protect the people i work with, make sure their rights are looked after, as i tell people we are not there to defend the indefensible, just to ensure their rights are protected and they are treated fairly..

i was a Union rep in the late 70s and 80s and agree they had far too much power then and not enough now,

anyway on a positive side saw a new kuga in white today and Love it, they had a Grey one, and white and my dealer had Black and Silver and out of all the colours i've seen now white is my favorite, and as i'll be keeping it for a long time guess thats gotta be a good thing ;)

Must be load of jobs out there for invalids who are at a drop of an hat fall over, perhaps an office clown at the Houses of Parliament, what do you reckon?

  • 2 weeks later...

Right my little saga goes on a bit more, I got a brand new kuga 13 plate, thought the sensors were fitted by Fords or not sure now.

The first thing that got me worried was two identical booklets in the glovebox, about sensors. So the fronts are always on, goes to see the technician, who aroused my second suspicion, by saying the on board computer does not recognise what he is trying for it to do, then there's the switch on the side just below the heater control, it just does not look right, to all the other switches, don't get me wrong, it's a good job that's been done, but it's not right.

Now I have to take my car to a place where they keep all of Fords cars basically big car park and a portacabin, this does not sound one bit like Fords operation, the people I got it from are a big concern in the Essex area, this too just seems wrong. I'm perplex to say the least, what would you do next?
