Hello everyone,
I am new to the forums and could do with a little advice. I was replacing the panel air filter with a new panel one, when i noticed another small sponge filter in the housing that was shot to pieces. I believe this is the crank case breather hose filter. My question is, has anyone ever replaced this foam filter with one of those upgrade breather filters ? ( like the small k&n style things) And is there a reason why it got so bad, and smelt a little bit like petrol?
Any advice would be good. . many thanks

Hi
That little filter collects the oil from the breather hose.
It performs a duty but it is pretty useless.
Imagine if your engine decided to exhale loads of oil it would cover the paper air filter and clog it.
A Catch tank would be more advisable
