moggsy100
November last year I had the " engine system fault " message appear on the dash and the little red led to the right come on my focus 1.6 tdci zetec.. After going to my local Ford dealer I was told likely cause was that the additive eloye needed topping up.. had this done at a good local garage as it was cheaper than the main dealer.. this solved the warning on the dash and has been fine for last 6 months... on sunday the " engine system fault" message reappeared... been back to the garage where had the additive topped up and they put it on the diagnosis which came up with 2 codes of " p2485 & p2585" the garage are now saying that they think the actual dpf needs replacing!!! any help or info to clarify this would be grately appreciated... car has done 78k cheers.. moggsy100
cheers for the reply lenny.... Just been out for a good 40 min motorway blast at high revs.... engine system fault message still there.. just wondering if that would naturally clear itself even after a good blast or would it still need restetting/clearing at a garage and see if it comes back... thanks.. Mondyghiax
Could need whats called a static regeneration or you could have sensor issues ie dodgy sensors or pipes leading to them. As far as I know only your local Ford dealer can do this. If its not this youll be in the best place to have it correctly diagnosed.
