hi i have a 54 plate 1400cc duratec all running great but earlier today the engine managment light came on for no reason and is now staying on for some reason, but the car is running as smooth as it usually does no other problems anyone any ideas why it would do this ?

I too had same problem with my 53 1.6 petrol. It turned out to be the oxygen levels in the exhaust. All the garage did was reset the light and i have never seen it since. So your problem may just be as simple as mine.
