My passenger side carpet is damp and smells.

I guess the previous owner had broken/weakened seal of

the cabin filter cowl and some water leaked in the cabin.

I want to remove, wash and dry the carpet.

Found a post online of assembling the carpet back

and some post of general order of removal of things.

However, i am running into problems and am greatly appreciating

any help from the experienced!

A ) Do i need to rip off the carpet from the white plastic? Can i glue it back

together later? Two side glue tape?Location - below the door plastic

frame protector (?name?)

Revision: From the link i posted above i saw that the plastic stays

intact/glued to the carpet.

Now how do i remove the plastic from the doorframe?

aut0031.jpg

B ) How do i remove those plastic screws? I just managed to unscrew them some and

loose the plastic and pulled the carpet from it.

aut0035.jpg

C ) The material below the carpet is really damp. After removal can i

clean it or should i look for replacement? What is it?

aut0032.jpg

D ) The material under the carpet is damp and goes deep inside up there.

How to remove? Is it washable?

aut0033.jpg

E ) How do i remove A and center console B?

aut0034.jpg

F ) Do i need to remove that center pillar and how?

If you now of great DIY post or video online for this "operation" please share.

Many thanks to all!

Any advice is very welcome!

Regards

Igor

Where the carpet is stapled to the white plastic strips, don't remove this as you will always have problems with the carpet moving and leaving a gap! Been there and done it lol

Tbh, you are probably best to just shampoo or steam clean the carpet. It's a lot of work to refit and you will probably end up with squeaks

So far here is where i am:

aut0037.jpg

Removal is stopped coz couple of problems:

aut0038.jpg

aut0039.jpg

Should the top and bottom layers be one? Glued together?

As you can see, they are separated in front and somewhere in the back

they seem like being glued togerher - as one layer.

Should i remove them as one?

Can i wash the bottom layer?

aut0041.jpg

This upper part is damp also.

It seems to me complicated to remove the inner corner

towards the console.

Should i pull or un-tight something in order to pull this out?

The material to me has some similarities to cardboard (?!?)

aut0042.jpg

It seems to me to pull out the bottom layer i will need to unscrew

at those two places?

aut0043.jpg

Should i cut here?

To remove it as one i think all that cabling needs to be removed.

And i if i don't cut, how do i deal with the vents?

aut0044.jpg

So far i cut it at the front...

Thanks in advance!

Regards

Igor
