Hi Everybody,

I am a new user,could not figure out how to post in the new member introduction link. I have bought my first Ford today, the above model, 2009,and just wonder how many of this particular model are out there,and any bad/good experiences that you may be kind enough to tell me about . Are there any shocks in store for me?. I think this model does NOT have a DPF,which apparently are giving quite a lot of grief to people who only do short trips. I live in London,and will only use it for long distance runs ,as I am now retired,and have a travel pass. Seems a nice clean car, mileage a bit high,but fingers crossed. Any info.welcome,especially a decent reliable mechanic in West London,who can do all the services,and stamp the service record manual. Many Thanks

I've the 90hp 1.6 too in estate form. I find the engine a bit too gutless to pull out into smalll gaps as I'm sure you'll find. Had no problems so far though it's a new car to me too.

I've been driving a 2008 1.6TDCi 90bhp (not econetic) for a year now. Initial worries about power were fairly unfounded as I've taken the family camping with large 6 man tent, gas, cooker, camping furniture, beds, a full roofbox, etc, and while obviously not being "fast" it can keep up which is all that matters to me.

As you may be aware (lots of info online) there are various reliability worries with the engine, mainly around sludge / carbon build up and leaking injectors, all of which can contribute to eventual turbo failure, followed by the need for complete engine replacement.

Regular oil changes with the correct spec oil are important. Mine hasnt got great beginnings- the first 2 services done at 15k intervals with semi-synthetic. Im due my 1st service and have oil and filter ready, but really I want to drop the sump and check / clean / replace the oil pickup strainer. Unfortunately that means removing the front exhaust pipe with cat, and the cat end is very hard to access. Haynes reckons various major components need to come off first (inc radiator), so perhaps I'll just end up doing an oil change only and keeping fingers crossed....
