Location Od Engraved Chassis Number In Cortina Mark V

I have a Cortina Mark V (YoM : 1977) that I bought a couple of years ago. The car had had several body restoration work done previously (and I did a complete overhaul myself) so most of the undercarriage is no longer original. We have an emissions test that needs to be done annually to ensure road worthiness and it was during this test that I came across this problem. They check the documents to ensure the details has not been falsified and they were looking for the Chassis number of the car and couldn't find it engraved anywhere. In new cars this comes engraved in engine compartment so it easy to see but in the Mark V, this area is the removable cover that hides the right hand side windshield wiper connector.

So this brings me to the question, where is the Chassis number originally engraved in a Cortina Mark V ?

Thanks in Advance.

I thought it would be in the floor next to the drivers seat.

I thought on the cortina's the unique chassis code was found on the drivers side under the bonnet on the inner guard (wing) near the strut top? This may be the older Cortina's mind. Worth a check pop open the bonnet.
