Immobiliser Key Fob Troubles...

Hi all,

Have been having a few issues with the key fob for my 2003 Fiesta.

It initially worked fine when i bought it, but recently has been becoming more temperamental. Then about 3/4 weeks ago it died completely and i have been having to lock/unlock the car using the actual key

I have got round to buying a new battery today and popped it straight in - it has had no effect whatsoever. Which is slightly worrying - can anyone suggest anything or will it be a straight to the Ford dealer for them to play with??

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,

Sam

I would assume the key still starts the car? If so you just need to reprogramme the fob to the car for remote locking.

Get in car and shut all doors/windows.

Put key in ignition.

Turn from 0 to II and back four times at a steady pace within 10 seconds.

You should hear a tone, beep or the immobiliser light may go solid (learning mode)

Press any button on the fob and should get a tone or beep.

Wait 20 seconds and remove key.

Open and close door and then press lock, locks should operate.

The Internet is a good teacher ;)

I believe that Ford even used to put the info in the handbook too but probably thought that by removing the info that they would cause more people to go to them and part with money.
