Guide: Fitting Footwell Lighting To Your Ford

64 posts in this topic

Haha - mate of mine has just picked up a 59 plate Focus Estate...really wanted footwell lights so asked me to have a look

Bulb holders present, but no power to them lol

As it's a taxi, can't go faffing about with wiring lol

They just need to be activated on the GEM

Ford can do this next time its connected to the computer,

Not sure if elmconfig software works on mondeo with modified ELM327 but if it does then you can activate them yourself,

He's renting it as a taxi so can't really do it unless he gets authorisation from his boss/car owners

I'll just keep reminding him that I have 'em and he hasn't lol

They can be added as a plug&play design,

By fitting an illuminated ignition ring light then run a feed from that to new bulb sockets all easily removable and no splicing

I'll mention it, but I don't think he's that bothered

He'll just keep bragging about his Sat Nav headunit lol

Tell him to sell satnav unit and indicator bulbs,

Buy a set of beads instead prevents a swetty groin when working 23hr days

I had a dispute with a bus driver at 6am Thursday last week lol

Was very funny as he couldn't fully see inside the car at the time,

He thought i was still inside,

So he stood feeling safe and shouting it at the drivers seat,

He wasn't aware that i was actually attending the ATM machine behind him at the time lmao

Should have saw his face when he realized i was standing next to him Lmfao

Problem??

Right mate open your glove box door n remove the glove box. Should be 7 screws:

Once that's out the way you'll be looking at this mass of wires:

Flop this thing up so you got a clear look at things:

And directly behind it you should find the 2 wires for the foot-well light:

It will be easy to distingquish them from everything else as they'll be the only ones in the area wrapped in loom tape. So peal some of this back and you'll find em. Then just thread your rear foot-well light loom up though a gap in the from foot-well.

So should these two wires be separate from everything else, assistance appreciated

If i may comment;

No those factory wires will be part of the loom,

I suggest; you look in the footwell to see if you have the grey bulb sockets fitted,

If you do;; then try inserting a T10 bulb,

If the bulb doesn't illuminate, don't splice power in to the existing loom because this method sends power back to the GEM unit where power is not ment to go in.

should be coming out from there not back in.

So if you don't have power in the loom see Guide here:
