Can anyone recomend a code reader which would work on both an 06 2.2tdci Mondeo and an 05 1.6 petrol Renault Megane?

Ta.............

Should add that I'm not too bothered whether it's a handheld unit or one that needs a laptop

Are you just looking for a code reader or a code reader with live diagnostics?

Live diagnostics would be good but I guess it'll come down to cost and pacticality. Whilst a live system using a laptop wouldn't be a much of a problem for me can't see the wife being to happy having to drive her car with the laptop on the passenger seat!!

Scangauge2 would be ideal and can read codes aswell as silence the engine managment light and display live parimeters including oil temp, boost. Etc. Plugs in to the OBD port on any car

Be aware that most readers in an affordable price range for most individuals can only read powertrain fault codes, and most aren't capable of reading body/chassis codes from other modules like ABS, etc.

I bought yesterday a bluetooth OBDDII code reader for £11.50 and will try and use that when I get it and see if its any good! for the sake of a tenner and saving yourself a few hassles later, its a worthwhile investment...

Yes it does, I have diagnosed my friends peugeot, I have seen the P error codes and helped him to diagnose it.

It works very well indeed, and I would recommend, splash out the few quid on torque pro.
