2012-Metal
Hi everyone ive had my 2012 Fiesta Metal From Brand New since end of May/June This Year, I am quite the paranoid type in general anyway. Regarding my Fiesta its getting rather serious, ive bought it on ford options (my first ford as changed from a VAG) i use the car mainly for work as i drive from my home in essex - NE London to Borehamwood, Herts where i work which takes me just short of a 40 mile round trip. I never turn the car on and just drive have, i always let the revs drop especially as i work nights and finish 6am. Have used normal BP unleaded from new and have currently got 2,800 miles on the clock with no thrashing at all. It took me from 0-800 miles before i even took it past 70mph and around 1500-2000miles past 100mph never wheel spinned or even seen the traction light on keep the gear changes around 2-2.5k rpm and occasionally when merging onto a roads and motorways take it up to 3-3.5k revs in 4th gear to get up to speed etc. the noise from the engine is horrid on idle and i have owned a 2009 corsa 1.4sxi which was pretty bad due their natural characteristics with noisy tappets. But my fiesta is a joke and not to mention, theres some sort of knocking type sound after i have been drive and just left on idle for example today in the morning when getting home from work. then it sort of just stops after a while when left running. Could Someone please shed some light on me and clear my paranoia as im starting to not like the car considering i dont abuse it at all. thanks and kind regards Bhavin
Preee
If your worried about the noise i would take it back to the Garage and see what they say. I would also noise paranoid on my Focus and took it in to be checked , the noise i was hearing was the air intake opening as i touched the throttle and was perfectly normal. Cars do sound different when warming up.

metal-liam
Sorry 2012-metal but your post annoyed me im a metal owner my self & i love it, no disrespect but a metal in my opinion is sporty and is meant to sound like it does ,for example it's got a fancy exhaust, and will make a raw when you accelerate! Why buy a car like the metal if you don't want to use the speed it's got or hear the exhaust/engine you may as well got a Nissan micro, to be honest the metal does need to be driven hard to get the best out of it, (safely of course) have a bit of excitement in it, don't be boring. Geevx11
My cars only got 2500miles on it and it has a bit of valvetrain noise and ticking from the injectors but this is probably because the engines have solid tappets not hydraulic. TBH I had a 1.8T audi A4 before the fiesta and that had as much valvetrain noise even with hydraulic tappets. I'd let the dealer look over it as your doing, for anything loose etc.
Nay ZS
My Fiesta is a little 'tappety' at start up but it soon settles once warm. There should be no reason not to start up and drive straight away. Don't be afraid to put your foot down once in a while. Breaking in is not about being extremely gentle with the revs it is about making sure you vary them frequently up and down the rev range. Short bursts of 5 to 6k down a motorway sliproad will probably do more good than harm imo. Also make sure you're not labouring the engine around town for the sake of keeping the revs down as that will be doing the engine no good at all whilst still tight. I would recommend to just drive it normally but leave it a few thousand miles before giving it long bursts of high revs (up a long steep country road for example) Heres an interesting article from someone who recommends running in hard. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
2012-Metal
sorry guys its been a while as ive been away, i totally understand and agree with you in each point given, i did take in to the supplying dealer and the i quote 'master tech' said i dont see or hear anything wrong. i dont want it coming back onto me saying ive ragged the f&*k out of it and so on as its on ford options and to be honest for the money im paying for it i hate it. plus financially im struggling now due to as you know its getting harder for everyone. I might actually get a nissan micra (no sarcasm intended) atleast the insurance will be cheaper lol. thanks guys and hope you all have a gd xmas in advance.
