My battery is not getting any charge from the alternator.
When I test the voltage at the alternator my meter is showing 19V. I know that is too high and that the alternator needs replacing.
But what is confusing me is that when the motor is running (having jumped it from another car) checking power at the battery is not showing anything like that voltage (9V max soon after , surely if the alternator is thowing out that much power, it should be going into the battery, (of course that'd kill the battery)
Has anyone come across this before?
It may be relevent that the starter motor packed up a few weeks ago and has been replaced.
