Mot Failure Of My Baby

Hi all,

I've had my 1997 Fiesta 1997 for a long time and has done me great, but has recently failed her MOT.

Rear suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated.

Anti-roll bar gas excessive play.

Parking brake efficiency below requirements.

Nearside rear position lamp not working.

Nearside stop lamp not working.

Things like the lights are simple, but the others, im not sure whether its work the repairs now? How much should i look at paying for these repairs inc labour as i have been quoted £300, and I think that is a bit steep. Thoughts?

Any help will be much appriciated :)

Sounds to me all you really need are new rear bushes and brake pads.

£300? jesus, Wasn't a Main Dealer was it?

Go to a small independent garage and they'll charge less than that i reckon, or if feeling brave find a half handy mate and have a crack yourself.

I suppose it could depend on what bush is needing replaced on the rear subframe and if they need to drop it from the car... That will fairly increase the labour costs

Can be a right pain in the backside. Few hours labour easily. Or spend the weekend stripping the rear axle away from the car. And take it to a garage and bung them a few quid to press in the bushes
