Zippy
Hi All, The arrival of my Titanium's drawing closer!! Sometime next week *fingers crossed!* lol. Having read what you all say about your's, I've been pretty impressed, and obviously can't wait till mine comes, so I can show it off! Lol. But anyhow, I've been reading reviews online, I know, I shouldn't, as one person's review is hardly enough to matter! Especially since I wouldn't heed it anyway! Lol. One thing that struck me though, was a comment made about the 16 inch wheels, and to quote what was said... "I’d avoid them if the car were mine – in normal driving they make the car thump into potholes, cause the front wheels to follow imperfections in the road under braking and make the turning circle too big for what is predominantly a city car" So this brings my question to all of you who have this model of Fiesta with the wheels in question, have you ever encountered this problem? or is it nowhere near as bad as what these reviews slate it to be? I'm hoping not! As I live in what ought to be renamed 'pothole city', lol.
shabazmo
I personally would have stayed clear of 16 inch wheels with 45 profile tyres, but I drove a fiesta for 2 days with these tyres and wheels. I have to say that there was no such problem. Excellent all round. How they do it I don't know. Hedgepig has the 17" tyres and 40 profiles. Perhaps he can comment. The ride over poor surfaces in the titanium i have with these wheels on is immaculate. the suspension and the wheels work well together. there is no tramlining, no crashing into potholes. Done 3200 miles now and not a mark on the wheel either. I think youll get more potential problems with the 17" wheels so i would ask someone who has them

Also, not sure where he gets the turning circle difference from either, going from 15" to 16" will make no difference, it's about the lock to lock of the steering. Just goes to show, you can get as much bad advise on the net as good.

I was just merely interested in all your views on the topic, since you guys have driven one for a lot longer than the so called 'reviewer' has. :)

I was just merely interested in all your views on the topic, since you guys have driven one for a lot longer than the so called 'reviewer' has. :) Well, as the guys have already said, I've got the 17" wheels and the ride / handling is superb--can't say I've noticed any harsh bumps or anything. I read a bucket load of reviews before I bought mine and there may have been something like that written but it's so subjective and depends on where you drive as well. My last car (Astra) had 18" wheels and the ride was a little firmer but nothing excessive. One of my mates at work had 19" alloys on his car with no detrimental effects. The problem for these reviewers is that the new Fiesta is so so good that they struggle to come up with anything to pick fault with........................ ;) Don't worry about the 16" wheels either--my other half's Sportka has them fitted and, whilst the suspension is firmer than the Fiesta, the ride and handling is phenominal---it corners like it's on rails! So, to sum up, like the others have said...........DON'T PANIC!.............it'll be OK!
