i do not know if this can be done, do you mean removing the torque converter, then fitting a manual clutch with a clutch pedal and all the extras that go with it, it will be a major and expensive job.

To change from auto to manual would mean, new flywheel, gearbox, clutch probably driveshafts, mountings etc. £££thousands worth of work. Why?

Hi guys, I have a manual with a whole in the engine, so I bought a engine which has a auto clutch arrangement fitted, I will be using all the old parts from my damaged engine, I need to remove the clutch arrangement to fit my manual clutch etc etc, sorry for the lack of info.
The problem is getting the auto clutch off, it has a round shaft at the front with a flat spot on either side for a spanner etc, I'm not sure which direction to turn this to remove the unit? also I appreciate I will need to stop the ring gear turning etc.
Your help would be appreciated.

Now I understand. You have an engine fitted with a torque converter, which you want to remove and replace with a flywheel for a manual. If the converers are still fitted like they were 20 years ago you will find 4 bolts on the BACK of the converter holding it to the adapter plate. When you've undone these you can lever off the converter and the adapter plate bolts will be uncovered. Apologies if this information is out of date, I've not dealt with autos for about 20 years!
