Hello,

Last month I bought an 06 Focus 1.8 Zetec TdCI. It's my first diesel, and assumed all of the weird noises were normal. I've just driven another Focus for work, and discovered that they aren't.

Would someone please tell me what the shiny thing is at the top of this picture, above the engine cover? What is the sensor on the left hand side of it (just after the pipe)?

I believe you'll find thats the EGR valve.

Ah, ok thanks. I thought the EGR looked different than that.

In that case, the split pipe leading into it on the left hand side leads me to think I've got the common split EGR pipe issue!
