I have a 59 plate ford fiesta and it has the 15" steels on it, I am looking to get some older 14" alloys wheels for the car. jeffers83 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Share Posted January 10, 2013 I have done the Tyre calculation and it comes out as 7mm difference which is 1.3% so I am happy with that. Cheers for the advice, I take it when you say fitments you mean the PCD and studs? I have done some research and found that by going down to the 14" wheels with 175/65 tyres on them it will increase your fuel consumption, I do a lot of miles and if this helps then its worth a try. sambooka Posted January 10, 2013 Share Posted January 10, 2013 Yep that's correct an the difference in fuel consumption will probably be minimal I went from 16" to 17" alloys and it made 2mpg difference maybe not even that much I know it soon adds up if you do a lot of miles but it will take long enough to recover the money spent on new alloys and tyres just a thought Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jeffers83 Posted January 10, 2013 Author Share Posted January 10, 2013 That could be true, the reports i have seen have taken it from 52MPG up to 60MPG i know it doesn't sound much but it all helps. I know the cost will out way the benefit for a while, But as i only have steels on there are the moment i think alloys will make it look nicer as well as help MPG, also i am in the position where i need 4 new tyres so will have to spend out for them anyway and the cost of alloys on top of new tyres is smaller than getting them just because i would like them.
