gaz6076
Is it power steering? Does the noise only happen when on full lock?
Steelman
]Yes, it is power steering & it happens on either lock. Its more pronounced if you rock the steering wheel from side to side.
gaz6076
If it only happens when you hold it on full lock dont worry as this is normal. If it happens when rocking the steering in any other position then the pumps probably knacked. Make sure there's plenty fluid in the system, if not check for leaks. Steelman
It happens when turning from lock to lock & not when holding it on full lock. Also, it only seems to happen when car has been travelling a while ie, when it has warmed up. If it is pumps, what pumps are they as my tool kit consists of one big hammer & a grinder!!! gaz6076
Sorry for the late reply. Been rather busy at work lately :( Sounds like your pumps on its way out but without hearing the noise myself I cant say for sure. Could be the rack. If your a complete novice with cars I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. The steering pump sits on the drivers side near the front headlamp. You will need to remove the alternator belt and drain the system first before taking the pump off.
