He is trained for drugs/currency and AES (weapons and explosives).
The Mali is mainly tracking and general patrol/public order duties but also has a good natural drive for drug searches too which I'm currently improving on.
She's pretty good at passive detection which then often gives me justification to deploy the Springer.

You may want to be wary about "secret cubbyholes" - I have heard of people who have been taken to the station for concealment of a weapon. The officer on that occasion thought that the pen knife itself was ok, but because he had it concealed in a similar "secret cubbyhole" it was seen a little more frowned upon.
He confiscated his pen knife, and let him off with a verbal warning after an hour in the cells.

Worth the risk anyway, what am I supposed to use if I end up trapped after an accident? I could end up up-side down in a ditch on a country road after hitting ice and could end up in quite some bother, am I supposed to just stay and eventually wait for help or get out of a potentially dangerous situation? Not for me really, I'd much prefer to be able to sort myself out and make sure I'm safe. I mean I'm hardly going to go about stabbing people with a Rescue Tool (It's a rescue tool, so the blade isn't sharp pointed and is serrated, not making the best stabbing tool)

It's generally designed to be non offensive and the sharp bits are protected.
I have one I can carry in a belt pouch and is very useful if I come upon an RTC.
It makes short work of windows and belts.
