jeffnat68
Hi all. Has anyone put molyslip or slick 50 in their engine? Just bought 1.6tdci and gonna change oil as not sure how old and what grade it is and thought about adding the above to improve the oils lubricating properties and thus prolong the life of turbo etc. Also what is the best oil to put in semi synthetic or fully synthetic? Thanx in advance. Jeff.

Thanx in advance. Jeff. Ford recommend Castrol fully synthetic, Perhaps Castrol Edge. And use a can of wynnes engine flush just before changing, to help break down sludge and prolong turbo. Costs less than 10pounds and well worth the money. Always follow instructions on the tin.
jeffnat68
Thanks for the advice on the oil. Have you ever used molyslip or slick 50 in the engine? Just curious to see if there is any real enhancement in lubrication properties of the oil.
aub
as an engineer all my life (aged 80 now) I have had very favourable results with Moylslip,on several previous cars, Cortinas, Escorts and Focus in engines and gearbox. I have no problem at all with wear giving a situation with no top up of oil between oil change on any of them. In one case I had Cortina on which the water pump failed on a motorway, the result was 2 pistons and valves were badly damaged but on strip down the bores were perfect, due I think to the protection given by Molyslip. Cant help on turbo's though as i have never had a car with one.
jeffnat68
Thanks for the advice. I think I will buy some molyslip and add it after the oil change. Can't see what harm it can do after all its jus got molybdenum in it which is similar to Teflon used on non stick pans etc. In theory it should prolong the life of moving parts in the engine and turbo seeing as it coats all the parts where the oil can reach and thus makes it non stick. I'll report back next oil change and let you know of results. Thanks for advice. Jeff.
