Hi folks this is my first post so hope i'm in the right section, i have a fista tdci 1.6 S, 05 with 60000 miles on the clock the problem is that it runs rough at idle the engine kicks a bit and is rough when eccelerating in1st gear as well but as soon i change into 2nd it seem to run fine, it does this even when hot, other than that it run/pulls well. any advice would be a great help. i'v only had the car few weeks, and it has FSH.

thanks in advance John.

OK so, in idle, its rought (shakey?juddery?)

In first gear its the same, but then second on is fine?

Have you checked that its not speed related as opposed to gear related?

but when in 2nd it smooth out,its like its got an electric gremlin at tickover and in 1st.

could be MAF related, but I dont understand why second gear sorts it all out...

to give you a bit more exposure, I am going to move this to the fiesta section

If you bought it from a garage take it back and complain.

How do you drive the car? If you do a lot of urban work I suggest you get it on the motorway and take it for a good long 50 mile minimum blast!

agreed, and sit in fourth gear and let the revs get up to the top end.
