Ok so my car wont allow me to listen to my IPhone through the stereo. I thought the Aux socket felt a little sloppy so bought a new socket but still no joy! Does anybody have any ideas why? The car has had a parrot hands free kit fitted would this have been plugged in where the Aux socket wiring should be?

No (unless the Parrot does music playback when AUX is selected).
Are you sure your Iphone does put out music on the headset jack when it is connected via Bluetooth? Have you tried another source / MP3 player and turning of Bluetooth on the Iphone?

What you want is one of these-

You'll gain iPhone control via your steering controls and bypass the woefully quirky standard aux socket.

Mmmmm might have to look into one of those then. On my 08 Focus 2.5 I've got the Ford Touch screen SatNav How does it come out? I can only see 2 slots at the top but on the how to's for other stereo removals there are 4 slots.
