Under The Acoustic Engine Cover!

Hi, took my 1.6 tdci 95 hp plastic engine cover off yesterday, I noticed a largish brass threaded hollow tube that was surrounded by a light film of oil-can't be right!

This looks to me as there is a missing threaded bung or somethingpost-34550-0-69924600-1361096490_thumb.j-see photo (I hope)

Can anyone have a look and let me know what you find.

Cheers

Martin

Hi Sam thanks for having a look, it does look exactly like mine, bit strange there is this apparent hole in the top of the valve cover without being filled unless its a breather but never seen a breather like this.

Hi Nathan, well not sure how the oil got there but with it being spotless every where else on this cover I doubt it has been dropped there during the oil changes as this can be done without taking this cover off.

Bit of a mystery to me what this hole is for.

Anyhow any one else had a look at theirs?

Cheers

Martin

Hi Dave, it does seem strange why it's there, never thought of that though.

At least there are more like mine!

Cheers

Martin.

Yes, it may be something like that, i don't think it is a "hole" and goes all the way through, so does not require a bung/ plug, the oil around may only be a co-incedance, there is often oil/ other fluids on engines
