Great to hear you got your plan sorted out Lenny. Are you going to sound deaden just the doors and boot or anywhere else? I been reading a fair bit about sound deadening cars and it's very interesting. One of the things that reduces mostly road noise now is Closed Cell Foam and Mass Loaded Vinyl put together. This used in conjunction with sound dampening material such as Dynamat, gets the best result and value for money. Since you will have the car stripped out, this might be the opportunity to get all of it done at one go. I plan on doing that to my own car, weather permitting soon as the noise on the motorway is actually starting to annoy me.

This is something I found that will do the job. Works out to be a bit cheaper than the Dodo Liner.

thanks mate,

yeah weather permitting ill be taking that week off to completely strip out the seats, carpet and roof lining all down to the metal for sound deadening and laying of cables,

i reckon i should have everything purchased and ready to go by then,

i haven't mentioned about the sound deadening plans on the thread much yet as the topic never really arose; but i plan to fit some Dynamat Superlite to the doors, boot walls and possibly the roof lining,

See link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dynamat-Superlite-Sound-Dapening-Deadening-Deadning-Bulk-Kit-x-12-SHEETS-NEW-/151406035397?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item234080c1c5

i will be covering the roof lining and the chassis floor with an acoustic dampening material but perhaps not from Dynamat,

as you know by now if i find a business within the country that is quality i will make efforts to have them work there magic on my motor such as the guys at www.souhan.ie (fitted Exhaust) and www.mfkautocare.com (Gutted DPF & Remapped) in Co.Meath all quality business guaranteed and all over 120km away from me, stay with me now I'm cutting to the chase here mate

I've found a company in Co.Monaghan which specialise in all types of sound deadening for both in the home, industrial and automotive divisions :)

here is a link to there overall range:

https://www.soundinsulation.ie/en/11-car-van-soundproofing

and here is a link to there automotive floor sound deadening material:

https://www.soundinsulation.ie/en/car-van-soundproofing/43-vbt-car-floor-sound-insulation.html

as you are also aware from having used it yourself; sound deadening material is quite heavy when packaged which becomes a nightmare on shipping charges,

i can easily fold down the rear seat of the focus and travel up to meet & greet these guys saving as estimated 70 euro on shipping charges not to mention Customs Charges in importing from that link in America

Aswell as discuss the best option of material for insulating the roof of the chassis.

i will be using Dynamat on the doors but floor and roof of chassis will be done under the recommendations of what these guys supply.

i always give credit where it is due and if i can source quality within the country i don't mind spending a little more on the item instead of giving it to the courier or customs.

Normal Speaker cable is 16AWG

I've been on Vibe Audio website and spotted they now manufacture a new brand at 13AWG which is slightly thicker than standard; designed for sub install.

I searched eBay and found the only stockist to be RadioWorld, now this cable must be some fine A55 Quality Shizzle gauging the price RadioWorld are charging per metre: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vibe-FlatBass-13-AWG-Speaker-Cable-Wire-Gauge-13AWG-1M-Bass-Spk/271021823166?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27678%26meid%3D4cc7746c59f54c91bc3e927118b00c9f%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D11379%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D200970434225&rt=nc

I've contacted Vibe Customer Care whom informed me Car audio security also stock this cable at a more reasonable price,

Phew  saves me getting a loan of £8891.96 from the bank to purchase four metres of the stuff.

Haha lenny, cant wait to see the final guide. I've got the other half trying to stop me buying stuff.... Needless to say i may be single soon haha

cheers mate,

A she will be fine just blame me eveyone else does

Ill create a guide explaining the following:

single & multi channel amps,

Choosing the correct Gauge cable

Difference between 8, 4, and 0AWG

Benefit of fitting a capacitor

Choosing the correct sized capacitor

Difference between sealed & ported sub enclosure.

Ill write all that up close to the end of the month following my build update.

However i won't be creating a guide on sound deadening the car,

I will be stripping out the car and applying three different sound deadening materials

One type for doors,

Another type for ceiling

Another type for floor

but I'm taking one week off work.

In that 7 days I've to strip it down to metal apply the material aswell as route cables to all four doors, power from battery through firewall in to the boot compartment.

Its going to be a very busy 7 days in previously uncharted grounds,

I will post a few pictures and a bit of progress text at the end of each day.

If i was to stop and take pictures of every panel, screw and bolt removed then process in to a guide for sound deadening a focus would take around 2-3 weeks.

I'm not implying that you expect me to create a guide mate I'm just saying to all reading that a guide on this Particular process wont be getting created by me as i don't have that sort of time but i will post details about the sound deadening materials and there supplier.

Can lenny move in with ye? He's on the road to divorce!lol

 haven't even bought anything yet this Month

Ment to ask earlier mate but i was on my tea break in work at the time and couldn't get back to edit my initial post to ask you: what mods are you planning to do which caused Ripples in the rockpools, ripples in the sea

Ripples in the sand dunes rolling into Connemara.

lol ill blame you when she kicks off again lol just anything mate! Goin on about gettin an st spoiler... As soon as i mention doing something to the car thats it , she turns into a nutcase ready to cut me danglys off lol ps i know what you mean about making the guide for the sound deadnin stuff, take you longer to make a guide for it than you physically doing it all lol

ah it's only because she loves ya mate.

The ST spoiler is a nice mod and the first i ever done to my focus,

I remember it well as Victoria was of similar attitude at the time which led to me using the teloscopic arm and head of the vacuum cleaner as a foot pressing the brake pedal,

Enabling me to find the correct polarity on the brake light wiring because Victoria refused to transport herself in to the drivers seat and press the pedal she kept threatening to put it in to reverse at the time instead  to kill me!!

How long are you guys together?

Perhaps you should get engaged first :)

She may feel slightly insecure about modifications as the focus responds quite well to them and naturally attracts some attention,

6806717045_1f0b36c535_z_zpsqjonw6dz.jpg

Let her know its a hobby and an interest which will be tastefully modified and not to be associated with the likes of Redline Magazine features vauxhall's surrounded by !Removed! in hot pants.

Have a talk with her regarding the issue vicki used to be the same pal and were together twelve years now will be grand.

In saying that too mate,

If i was starting this all over again i don't think id do it,

Its very enjoyable but also highly addictive,

The amount of money I've spent by now id have an ST3 with Mountune.

If unlike me you can save your money every month id save it and buy an ST.

Still in knowing this now i don't even listen to myself :)

I'm still carrying on doing more to it,

But seriously I'm finished this year done!!

I've found a supplier of a direct fit 1.6TDCi hybrid turbo for 900 euro

See link: http://store.trwperformance.com/product_info.php?cPath=6_90&products_id=280

And upgrade intercooler for 400,

Added with 110cc injectors and remap 600

See link:

http://www.european-parts.net/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/58_82/products_id/1426

Total 2050euro car would be up around 150bhp on diesel

This knowledge is playing on my mind for weeks now,

Another plan was to remove rear door handles, smooth off the doors to look like a 3 door,

Fit popper kit to rear doors with waterproof rubber push button fitted one on either side fitted under the wing mirror,

When pressed would pop the rear door on that side, when car is unlocked via factory fob.

Estimated cost 400-500 euro.

There's also off the shelf digital pocket air ride suspension kit available from car audio security, drop it, raise it, jump it to the beat of the music

3500 euro fitted.

See link:

http://caraudiosecurity.com/95722-airlift-airride-kit-ford-focus-mk2-digital-kit

ST grey Recaro seats would look sweet too 500 euro from breakers

but no I've gotta stop this year,

Sound system and ST bumpers then I'm done except for when the clutch goes ill replace it with a stage 2 Kevlar see link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180982110154?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

If turbo ever dies ill upgrade then too.

Lenny, had a look at that website selling the sound deadening stuff in Monoghan. Do they do the install as well?

I been looking around for a company to do the work in Ireland but no such luck. The only reason behind that is lack of time and a dry place or else I would be doing it myself since I know already what materials I need. Think it might be helpful as well to get a Haynes manual finally for the car to help disassemble the interior.

Not sure if they fit it mate maybe worth contacting them to find out,

To be honest though i doubt they do fit it given the range of motors out there and various ways they come apart particularly Honda's (all clips no screws) i doubt they do offer a fitting service because its not a text book task like spraying an exterior panel or tinting a window,

but if they do fit; i reckon the labor cost would be massive and possibly 3-4 days per car but they may do it,

If they don't then pay yourself take a few days off work either sick or holidays in the spring/summer and do it yourself quite therapeutic,

For Haynes manual you need Haynes Book: 4807

Displays a Mk2 on the cover but shows the facelift model on the inside, bought mine back in 2010 its been a God send in assisting through out the guides.

+1 great for air vent removal, locating the oil filter housing, removing the oil filter, locating the egr valve and cable references when needing to splice in to an ignition live feed or an interior light poaitive feed, mine has definitely paid for itself across the years.

If you're reading this thread and you have a 1.6TDCi, 1.8TDCi or 2.0TDCi Diesel Ford Focus 2005-2011 and you would like to purchase the specific Haynes Manual see link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Haynes-Manual-4807-Ford-Focus-1-6TDCi-1-8TDCi-2-0TDCi-Diesel-2005-2009-NEW-/201103448811?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item2ed2b31aeb

Been on a week long search for one of these exact capacitors to fit on the Mono Amplifier power supply:

046430102790410_zpsp2xuvjwd.jpg

043430104940625_zpstuo8i03w.jpg

Can not find one identical anywhere,

And google Search is contaminated with articles regarding Redbull and capacitors in there Formula One cars.

So once again im gonna free style it, the guys at Connects2 based within the UK and global supplier of automotive electrical equipment supply a tidy little 1.0 fared capacitor which is double the size i require i really only need 0.5 fared but there quite difficult to source and wouldn't be large enough to replicate the RedBull can.

So plan is a Connects2 1.0 cap

Link: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/141342436008

When purchased; measure it up with Vernon callipers and get in touch with the guys at DMB.uk.com for a custom print RedBull vinyl wrap.

Ill keep the thread updated as this progresses.

That capacitor looks identicle to my BOSS audio one.. Just with a different sticker on it, the ill fitting mounts are the same too! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190950867290?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

cheers Kieran mate it does look identical as you said except for the wrap,

A 2 fared capacitor is surplus to my requirements though as ill be powering a 300W amp a 0.5 fared would be sufficient,

So ill settle for the 1.0 fared from connects2 and wrap it to look like a 350ML can :)
