Thanks mate,

Hope it continues to improve and i dont need to go back fingers crossed,

And there's some exciting updates in the pipeline between now and May :)

Adverts.ie from my experience with it id rather sell it for copper myself Boss!! Rather than giving out my contact details and address to someone whom would come for the bit of copper and come back for the stainless exhaust or possibly the whole car,

Its not worth bringing unwanted attention to my self, ebay is much easier i get the money they get the item,

No meets, no violin poor boy stories you want it you pay for it i ship it you get it, no snooping around or asking why i had it  eff off!!

Guarantee if i advertise 2metres of 4 Gauge cable for sale on adverts ill get some guy wanting to collect it from my house,

Then looking to know why i had it, what i used it for, and when am i selling that too,

Then tell me his mother, brother, sister or son is on a life support machine but the HSE are switching it off and he really needs 2 metres of 4 gauge to assist him build his own machine in the car to allow him bring them home. So could i donate the 4 gauge to the cause so he can bring them to the beach..

OR

the electricty has been cut in the house the government has provided him with mortgage free because he spent the dole money on drink and needs the 4 gauge for free to splice in to the Tram line.

Ya know what i mean ?

I hate DoneDeal, Gumtree and Adverts.ie now im sure there are lots of descent genuine people whom use these trading sites however i regret to say in all five transactions ive done 4 on adverts and 1 on donedeal ive not met them atall :)

Anyways rant over.

Now Speaking of us enthusiasts meeting;its 2015 and time for another forum meet,

In the past few months there's been a few more Irish members joining,

One of those members has been George from Athlone

Profile: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/user/61009-irishman1127/

We spoke about last years first meet which had a strong turn out considering it was first attempt

George apposed the Hodson bay hotel in Athlone to be a scenic central location situated on the side of Lough Ree should be a nice location for a meet.

Plenty of activities there for those of us whom have kids aswell,

The hotel doesn't have a problem with car enthusiast meets as George has informed me; BMW members get together there for meets on occasion.

Sounds all positive to me so hoping to see at least 6 members of the forum in attendance this year

However at present my focus isint looking all that presentable,

DRL Fog surrounds (SOLD)

ZetecS Front lip (SOLD)

TripleRcomposites Front Splitter (SOLD)

ZetecS Front Grills (SOLD)

Currently rolling stock bumper with stock grills and no fog surrounds lookin very sexy indeed.

My plan is fitting an ST front end i sold the items as buyers became interested,

As i know if i held off until ST bumper was fitted id find myself stuck with a ZetecS front end sitting around the house that nobody wants.

If the meet is in July/August i should have an ST front end sprayed up and fitted looking presentable once again. :)

I know what you mean with the Irish online sites. My personal experience is that I had no issues with Adverts so far. Done Deal is full of scammers. Never used Irish Gumtree to sell/buy stuff so far.

As for the next Irish meet, I am totally in. Not much has changed with my car since the last meet and if things progressed, the only new mod will be the sound deadening which you can't really see lol. Would be awesome if we can start rallying the troops for the next meet. As for the venue, I second it. The Hudson Bay Hotel, is brilliant. I worked in Athlone for 1 year and know the place. Like you said, if they are happy with us in the car park, others can go in to have tea/coffee and food etc. Plus, if the children come along like last time, depending on weather, they can roam around and be entertained.

Looking forward to the next Ford Owners Club Ireland meet :)

Lenny has the pictures of the meet linked in somewhere here. It was a fun day and if we get the weather again like last time, it will be good fun. Especially as Lenny should have the new sound system in the car and I'm looking forward to hearing it next to my car

My JL will put out 75w per door that's only half your output but it satisfies my everyday requirements

I just want a friendly ford get together no competitions,

I thought of your idea of having the 2 car side by side, with bluetooth paired playing the same song. Reckon we would scare the auld folks in the hotel with the bass!

I am trying to link the Youtube video but it doesn't want to show it! Grr!

having second thoughts on that idea mate, must be due to recently becoming a year older or somthing i dunno but i wont be cranking the tunes in public places from experience back when i was 19 see picture:

Picture00_edit_1413699597992_zpsjaieh2nt

it gives off the wrong impression and generally attracts the Law  would be acceptable for a short duration at the Airside Retail Park where theres no hotel rooms or many static people around but i cant imagine the Hudson Bay being overly impressed or enthusiastic about a group of enthusiasts with a 2200w combined car audio outputof bass which would leave us all producing licence and insurance followed by life story beginning with the Dinosaurs,

And tell me why your telling me attitude from the cops.

I.e. ask you a question then ask it again while your half way through answering it.

I dont like drawing attention in general really to be honest.

I know what you mean there Lenny. Fair point and I get stopped over enough times as it is around the midlands. Car and driver just look dodgy lol.

Btw, in that car setup you posted above, how many subs did you have? I see the box with the Fusion sub but there are 2 more ?speakers on the side? Or small Speakers? Plus the 2 on the rear parcel shelf and I am guessing 2 more in the front!

in that car setup you posted above, how many subs did you have? I see the box with the Fusion sub but there are 2 more? speakers on the side? Or small speakers? Plus the 2 on the rear parcel shelf and I am guessing 2 more in the front!

That was my first car and first audio setup,

In the boot compartment:

Had a 15" ported Fusion Encounter sub enclosure with attached 8AWG 300watt Amp.

6.5" MDF custom Sealed sub enclosures fitted with the sub Speakers from a set of Fusion Encounter components, tweeters removed but crossovers in place to prevent highs being sent to the sub's.

Parcel shelf:

6X9" Fusion Reactor Speakers,

Had some 35cm oval rings made up to raise the 6x9's in the parcel shelf preventing them from fouling on the sub enclosure in the boot.

The audio cabls for the parcel shelf was fished through black rubber door seal which was glued to the parcel shelf keeping it stealth looking,

Then terminated with an Autoleads 4 core plug/socket allowing full removal.

Up front:

Set of 4" coaxial Fusion Encounter fitted inside the dash in factory locations,

Later fitted the tweeters from the 6.5" components in to the doors at front of the handles.

Had a JVC single Din headunit (with bluetooth which was awful mic. Built in to headunit)

Bought everything from caraudiodirect.co.uk at the time but that was before discovering the great deals on eBay.

Overall through experimenting and testing with that ported system and having heard your sealed enclosure i now prefer a sealed sub enclosure rather than a ported.

Ported projects the sound out but base isn't tight its loud.

Sealed is lower than ported punchy and tight.

The size of the sub itself also makes a difference,

It depends on the type of music you listen to what size of sub you should purchase.

If you listen to Fast bass then an 8" is best because it can flex quite quickly to catch the next beat.

A 10" sub is a good all rounder

A 12" or 15" ported is better for R&B music where the beat is more Boom, Boom, Clap. Its capable of projecting far and wide but takes a few milliseconds more to flex.

One word: WOW! Must have taken you a while to set it all up.

And yea, I tend to think the same about ported versus sealed enclosure. I had a 12 inch ported sub as my first ever one. It was loud, shook the car all over but was not defined at all. Then had a sealed 10 inch sub, the Vibe one and realised that it was much musical. The current one fits the bill so much better. It's not loud but very clear and concise. For the money I paid for it, I think it was a great find.

Just had a look at the Focal's :)

That's about £150GBP isn't it Lenny? Really good price! I'll have to scrape together funds and I'll take them for that price!

i dunno mate i havent even clicked on the link

Tell ya what though:

Two bows one arrow each, we'll meet around isle of man in some inflatable boats from Argos,

One shot with the arrow,

if you sink my battle ship you get the focals hows that sound?

I'm beginning to feel that I'm going to be dead in the water: if i don't have a set of Focals in my car.

I get first shot because the Golden link was post on MY build thread ok?

True story:

Last Sunday i went to church,

Priest got a new speaker system installed in the chapel Ow Yes!!

He was boasting about how good it sound, myself and vicki were almost in tears with laughter as i theorised "yeah they have gotta be some Focals"

Bottom line:

Focal The Business Period..... No Quibble

Stop what your doin to your cars now people; if it ain't focal your working with then it ain't worth discussing.

Sounds good. Using JLs as projectiles? Could've said before I sold the sub.. The pure weight would knock you out the water!

You bringing the Focal's with you? I'll grab them before they touch the water

Dib dib dib

I'm afraid If I bought ANYTHING from Argos it'd be stolen before I left town!

Priest with a PA! Church I used to go to had one a "PA". Wireless mic dropped out if he went 5 foot away from a receiver! #qualityinstall

Considering there second hand they may have touched water already mate :) and there's no chance I'm bringing them because there collection only and if I'm sick to death of hearing it, id also leave myself with no aspirations in life to aspire to because theres nothing better than them in the world.

Had a good laugh reading the last few posts.

The guy selling the Focal is selling it for €200 but I reckon he would be open to an offer. Think brand new they retail around £200 on eBay. One guy is selling a used set for £180. I will find some links once I am on the computer and will post it to your thread. Best thing though would be to have the same Speakers front and rear.

i thought they were £600 per set brand new, maybe worth upgrading your rears from vibe aswell at that price keep em all the same, :)

The focus Mk2 Ghia saloon rear door cards have tweeters below the handles perhaps the markings are on the inside of the door card of the mk2.5 for drilling,

Small picture but can see the tweeter location:

January Update:

Ow Yes Progress has been made :)

I've finally gotten my eBay watch list down to one single page for first time in five years!

ParcelMotel have been a Godsend in assisting with reducing the overall cost of this months update; I've had all of the items shipped from sellers within the UK to ParcelMotel in Northern Ireland for Free,

ParcelMotel have received and shipped all of these items to my local collection point for a total cost of 27.42

Whats up with that!! :)

Now if you're upgrading your Speakers or considering installing a Sub;

JL Audio are top quality Car Audio Manufacturers,

There's no better UK supplier of JL Audio than FastCarAudio on eBay

Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/fastcaraudio?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

There prices are the lowest in Europe for JL Audio Equipment and Next Day Delivery within the UK is Free and Tracked via Reputable Couriers FedEx and UPS.

If like me you live in southern Ireland; sign up to ParcelMotel and avail of free UK shipping. :)

IMG_20150124_074053_zpsc17a0esn.jpg

Don't be fooled by low priced items shipping from America on eBay.com The Customs in all EU Countries will fleece you with import taxes when any Item from the USA reaches the shore trust me it costs more in the long run, even if the item is declared to be a Gift or imported to an American Company ;)

Shipping from the US in to Europe is not like shipping from Asia where customs charges can be avoided.

These guys at FastCarAudio are UK based suppliers at lower than UK prices.

I've saved over £75 on this combined purchase from FastCarAudio compared to purchasing the same four JL Audio items from ANY of there European competitors. Yes £75.00!!! Less than RRP.

I'm absolutely delighted to be physically holding these items in my hand's :) this purchase has been the most expensive single online transaction I've ever made to date and that's with a Discount from the seller due to me purchasing all four items at once.

well worth every penny.

Here's direct links to items purchased:

The sub grill by JL Audio slots directly on to the sub,

No need to drill holes in the enclosure or any brackets,

Great protection.

Ive really gotta compliment JL Audio Class D amplifiers,

These aluminium cased amps are tiny in physical size while producing high audio power,

Class D consume much less power comparing to Class A/B amps,

The D have built in technoligy which regulates and semi shuts down the amp when its not required,

This means less heat is produced and less power consumed,

JL are one of the first Car Audio manufacturers to bring this Class D style of amplifier to the car audio scene.

Next item purchased was from RadioWorld the same supplier of the custom sub enclosure saw on page: 46 of this build thread, link to page 46: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/41443-taking-oval-to-blue-horizon-lennys-build-thread-2010-2015/?p=422667

This time they supplied me with the following items:

7 Metres of Vibe 4AWG Positive FlatLine power cable, (sold per metre)

Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vibe-Flatlines-4AWG-Amplifier-Power-Cable-Wire-4-Gauge-AWG-1M-Red-Clear/251113035519

IMG_20150127_080306_zpswzialbpu_edit_142

IMG_20150127_080254_zpsq6gryobc_edit_142

The FlatLine power cable is part of the new FlatFlex range of cables available from Vibe,

This wasnt a selling factor for me on this occasion i just required a 7 metre length of vibe 4 gauge cable and this flatline type was only available.

Here it is compared to standard 4AWG

IMG_20150127_091642_zpsjpsgmuwx_edit_142

The reason i required a 7 metre length is because my choice of location for the Mono Amp is under the drivers side boot panel; and the 5 metre length supplied with the vibe slick kit isn't long enough to reach this desired area:

Image1494_edit_1422169579971_zpsqk5zsf7a

Next item also from RadioWorld was again 2 Metres of Vibe 4AWG Negative feed cable, same "FlatLine" design as the positive; only difference is the colour of sleeving symbolises Negative current (Sold Per Metre)

Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261070670815

IMG_20150127_075817_zpsjpk8ln0o_edit_142

IMG_20150127_075830_zpsrrai69l4_edit_142

While with RadioWorld i decided to purchase the "AutoLeads SAK-1518" Focus Rear Door Speaker adaptor kit; which i also had in my watch list bookmarked to purchase from there store,

This was the last item sourced through there store that i required and purchasing now saved money on group shipping as it was shipped in part parcel with the cables through ParcelMotel.

Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261082740273

IMG_20150127_075717_zpsaleb3jks_edit_142

Next item to arrive was from CarAudioWarehouse these guys were the cheapest supplier of "AutoLeads SAK-1517" Focus front door aftermarket speaker adaptor kit.

Since i had purchased the rear kit, figured i should purchase the fronts now to have that adaptor category of things complete rather than trying to remember which ones i had left to purchase at a later date.

Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181322863877

IMG_20150127_075543_zpsc6fy9tpz_edit_142

these adaptors came with some screws aswell as some OEM connection to Aftermarket speaker loom adaptors from Connects2; i wont be using the loom adaptors though, as ill be running thicker Vibe 16AWG replacement lines to each door.

Next item to arrive was from WheelsNbitsltd. these guys were the cheapest supplier of the "Connects2" 1.0 Fared Capacitor.

Connects2 are a highly regarded global supplier of high quality model specific to aftermarket car audio adaptor looms, reverse cameras, aux adaptors for OEM headunit's and there capacitors are an extension of there quality range.

Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121530999151

IMG_20150126_163045_zps1cinkb9l_edit_142

IMG_20150126_163014_zpss8xrnxt6_edit_142

IMG_20150126_163107_zpsldhpiwzm.jpg

Nice three digital blue illuminated display capable of displaying two forms of decimal point and gold plated clamp down posts,

IMG_20150126_165412_zpsic3w3cm2_edit_142

I'm surprised to say; its considerably light compared to the Vibe 3.0 Fared i had in a previous install, This Capacitor is only 1Kg and lighter is great because it means less impact on MPG with no sacrifice to audio quality.

For those whom don't know what this item is;

A capacitor is like a reservoir for electrical power,

It stores a quantity of power which is available to the amplifier at a much faster flow rate than the stand alone battery can supply it;

This will be fitted to filter the positive cable feeding to the 300W Mono Amplifier, resulting in the sub never lacking in punch or missing a beat.

Now since the Amplifiers are Class D they consume much less constant power than there predecessors so fitting a 1 fared capacitor is more than sufficient for any Amplifier up to an output of 1000W.

I plan to get this Connects2 1.0 Fared capacitors cylindrical shape measured up myself then contact some printing companys to have a Redbull Can style Vinyl wrap printed for it, more progress on this coming soon.

Next item to arrive was "20 x Ford Door Card Clips"

Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390599381190

IMG_20150124_081658_zpsfn4wfps6_edit_142

These are for use in replacing any that are broken when removing the door cards.

Next item to arrive was from ACC4U these guys were cheapest supplier of the "VIBE GB41 banana plugs"

Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140459071440

IMG_20150129_080736_zpsj9yhiwqp.jpg

IMG_20150129_080744_zpsqdfbsyzq_edit_142

These will fit to the ends of the amplified Vibe 13AWG FlatBass Audio cable that connects in to the binding posts at the rear of the sub enclosure coming from the Mono amp resulting in a clean easy to remove connection, in the event the sub enclosure ever needs to be removed.

Second item purchased from ACC4U then is two sets of "Vibe RT4 4 AWG Gauge Gold Crimp Ring Terminals"

Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vibe-RT4-4-Gauge-Power-Cable-Car-Battery-Ring-Terminals-/140891628755

IMG_20150212_111244_zpsghp5xfz5.jpg

Although the Vibe Slick 4AWG kits came with pre-crimped ends on the cables, i require another four ring terminals in order to fit the 1.0 Fared Capacitor so here they are.

Final purchase's of the Month now and yet to arrive from China are:

The "Pioneer Unofficial Auxiliary patch cable" to allow connection of the previously installed 3.5mm Phono jack in the arm rest to the rear of the Headunit.

I say Unofficial because its not the Genuine article

Pioneer do Manufacture the same loom called a "Pioneer CD-RM10" however it retails at around £35.00 bit pricey just for a cable that its only purpose for me is to enable the 3.5mm AUX port fitted in the centre console to function.

So I've settled for a Replica item from China instead, nobody's going to see it inside the dash anyway. :)

These guy's wouldn't ship directly to Ireland from China so i had to have it shipped through Parcel Motel

I'm also awaiting delivery of two Hole-Saw drill bits from China shipping directly to drill the MDF panel and install the previously purchased 19 & 22mm plastic ring inserts to protect the cables feeding the 4 channel Amp.
