when you push the windscreen wiper stalk down is it supposed to do a complete wipe of the screen automaticaly or do you have to hold the stalk down?? cos when i push down and let go the wipers stop until i push it again , all other modes are fine, could this be a relay or something?

Not a guide so moved to the relevant section.

it should complete the full sweep so yes it may be the relay you should hear it click on and off

Yes. I would reckon that as a first place to investigate.

You say all other modes fine... Does the normal timed intermittant wipe work fine, and when on normal wipe when you stop does it switch to intermittant wipe? As said relay first, but it may be a stalk issue if the above work fine..

Swap it over with the relay for the rear wiper, they're both the same.
