Hi

I´m from Kettering and I would like to know where can I get a exhaust system for a good price in northamptonshire?

I bought my T304 stainless 2.5" Dpf back duplex from piper exhausts through eBay,

Comes ready to fit, you just need to purchase some ST exhaust brackets and rubber mounts,

424.95GBP exc. Delivery and mounts

Worth every penny imo but all depends on personal taste weather you want a single exit or duplex,

I got it fitted by a local custom exhaust specialist for 50.00 GBP

I´m gessing that you already have the de-cat. Is the same size as the Petrol?

and manifolds? still standard?

My manifold is standard and will need to stay that way due to the design of the turbo flange on the 1.6TDCi

The focus has an all-in-one can system containing both DPF and Cat,

I'm considering DPF removal including Cat, but keeping the can in place to look like its still their thus being able to pass a visual inspection on MOT,

A decat diesel engine is cleaner than one with a Cat alone, and no noise difference,

Diesels don't get raspy like petrols, instead the growel like a V8

Here is an image of the dpf/cat leading from the manifold to a flexi downpipe and on to the 2.5" system.

I was asking about the meassures because as far as I know the de-cat is just a pipe but if I buy one for the RS may not fit on my standard manyfold.

Ok mate,

A sports cat has a filter inside but a de-cat like your talking about is just a straight through pipe, designed to replace the existing cat.

Since your focus is a diesel no petrol exhaust parts are compatable with diesel and the same for petrol engines.

Your best and cheapest option would be to get a custom exhaust shop to manufacture/shape a straight through 2.5" stainless pipe from manifold to flexi,

Then a 2.5" flexi to the rest of the exhaust system,

A decat pipe for a petrol model won't be any use to you as the diesel cat is n a different location compared to diesel models.

And here is an image of the 1.6TDCi flexi pipe you would be best upgrading to 2.5" to match the rest of the system,

Please note this flexi from a 1.6TDCi is a differen design to that on an St or Rs

Lenny do you remember the right part numbers for the rubber exhaust mount by any chance? Having a nightmare finding them. Contacted ford with the number Piper gave me and ford saying it's not on the system and there's no similar numbers either. Piper haven't bothered responding to email 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. Would a full set of powerflex ST mounts do instead?

Hi Jay,

Ford change the part numbers every few years; so the numbers which I would be quoting to you from archive would also be expired;

Ford can check there system for a cross reference to find the new number; but they generally don't and quote "computer says no" attitude,

I once had my own copy of the ford parts software; bought it on eBay I could then find parts myself and order by part number rather than giviny VIN for them to say "ow that's not on that model" which I responded "that's exactly why I want to purchase it" 😅

They were useless,

Powerflex will do just fine,

Have you got the drivers side exhaust mount from an ST ? Assuming you're fitting a duplex exhaust?

If not then there's a set here with rubber mounts:

If you don't need the bracket then here's the rubber mounts as you said and cheaper than ford half the price as far as I remember:

Cheers man, legend 😎👌. I'd be lost without your guides and comments 😅. It is a duplex Piper system I'm fitting yes. Near enough same as yours. Mine is a TI though. I have the right part number for the brackets & buying both just incase 🤷🏻‍♂️. It's just the rubber mounts I'm after now. Is it just the two for the tailpipes I need? or do I need to pickup one for the box too?

Glad to see my 5-6 years of posts are still of use today; could be having a bad day and it's always nice to have people come back with a response from something you did some time ago to say thanks, the back box hangs on the same passenger side mount; so just the two is enough, there is another two on the flexi-downpipe could be changed as preventative maintenance if desired, total of 4 rubber mounts on the entire system.

If wondering what I'm doing with my spare time now; I've since moved on to home improvements since 2016 link:

  • 1 month later...

So quick update. After £120 & weeks of waiting for ford to order the new parts in and get a date sorted with the mechanic, I landed out first thing this morning looking forward to having the exhaust finally sorted. Hadn't heard anything back so landed round at half 5 to see what the story was & he tells me the resonator & box fit fine but the tailpipe doesn't fit the ZS bumper, won't line up with the diffuser properly🤦🏻‍♂️. So he just stuck the original back on and now the shiny new piper system is still sitting in bits in my back seat. Had to email LarkSpeed and Piper and see what they say in the morning. Several months scrimping & saving and faffing about to get the extra bits sorted. Could cry😭🤦🏻‍♂️😅

Very nice. I think colour coding the rear valance would finish it off nicely. I am jealous I want a duplex for my MK3. How much did it all set you back?

I had an eBay voucher so managed to get a few quid off. System was listed at £504 + £20 postage (to Northern Ireland 🇮🇪) through LarkSpeed's eBay shop. With the voucher I paid £430. Buying direct from piper was around £20-30 more expensive. I decided to keep the resonator,so it was a few £ extra, straight pipe would've been cheaper. Buying brackets, bushes  & gasket new (ford + powerflex) was around £110 with postage,I bought extra bushes though just incase they were needed. Fitting with the local powerflow crew was €40. + £40 in phone credit & tobacco 😂. Would've been lost without Big Len advising, so credit to him 😉

That sounds reasonable! I recently was looking at a new front wing for my car on eBay, good enough price, but they quoted £500 P&P to NI. On emailing them thinking it was an error, they told me they don't really want business from NI anymore as our situation of being in limbo with Brexit and still being in the EU causes them far too much paperwork! (I've had loads of deliveries in past 12 months with no issues... )

Try Synteq mate. They've always got a few in for breaking and prices aren't too bad. I Got my alloys from them at the start of the year. Think it was woodside distribution that dropped them at the door. Driver was a gent too🤷🏻‍♂️
