Eggy1990
Morning all, I've purshaced a 1.0 ecoboost 100ps zetec,I was under the impression that when I was driving along I would get a shift indicator for up and down gears I'm yet to see it come on, is it something that wouldn't be standard or just turned off? I've looked in the manual and it is there on pg65 Help appreciated Cheers!
FOCA
You might have to rev the engine a bit more/ higher to see it come on (some call it a "shift light") I don't know exactly at what revs it comes on but it may be a good idea to run it in a bit 1st
Eggy1990
Thank you, il look into it I can't see it being a fault just driver error Cheers!
FOCA
Thank you, il look into it I can't see it being a fault just driver error Cheers! If the shift light is actually set up/ working but not coming on - it means you are driving it correctly because it will only come on if your not driving it right (revving it too high or letting the revs drop too low/ "labouring" the engine) - unless the new style ones are different
Eggy1990
Ahh right, suppose that's good then, il keep a eye out for it and rev Abit higher to check
Bladerunner
Hi, my tdci has a shift light which I almost allways ignore as I feel it comes on at too low a revolution most of the time, just drive it so you don't labour or over rev the engine, you will soon get the feel for the drive and be able to shift gear within the engines torque band. I might be correct and thinking member' INath' turned his indicator light off. Cheers Martin
Eggy1990
Hi I was just Abit worried it isn't working, I joined the motorway as normal but haven't over revved it as such just suprised I haven't seen it yet I assume in the new models it comes on in between the rev and speedo in the 'hatch' bit Cheers Josh
Sliveredge
it comes on above the engine temp gauge on the left hand side I'm sure mine pops on around 2.5k rpm to 3k rpm I'll check in a bit and report back

iNath
I might be correct and thinking member' INath' turned his indicator light off. Cheers Martin You're correct, got on my nerves coming on at 2k all the time!
MartynS
It does delay coming on to around 4k when accelerating hard - but if you're doing that why would you change up then? Makes no sense!
Preee
On my Focus it comes on at 2000 rpm which is crazy and i take no notice of it lol
Eggy1990
Managed to get out last night in car and revved it enough to get the light on Thanks for the help How's everybody's fuel consumption and mpg going? High as ford suggested
Sliveredge
I'm hitting 40mpg at the mo and that's just town driving with the odd bit of right foot :)
eggy25
I’ve done just short of 80 miles and its climbing all the time to 34.3 at the minute town driving and 1 junction of MW, I’m assuming this will increase after the 1000K mark settling down period I’ve also found my petrol dial goes down quick whilst MPG goes up All in all I reckon I’m going to save more fuel than the 2005 1.4 Zetec I Part exchanged Cheers! Mick78
Don't bother with the change light, flashes to itself 1,500ish miles in and average is sitting at 42mpg, mostly town driving Ford has the 100ps ecoboost as 53mpg for the urban run
eggy25
Reckon 53mpg is possible?
b1g_dav3
I'd have said 45 would be more realistic if honest in a petrol.
fasty
Regarding the MPG - I'm driving gently to and from work, making a token effort to "run in" the engine a bit so not labouring it hard, Approx 50% town driving and 50% motorway (but only up to 70mph for short periods) I'm managing to get around 54mpg combined, which I'm happy enough with. - Steve
