Tyre Sidewall Damage

Featured Replies

Hey all.

I noticed some tyre damage on my sisters Fiesta yesterday. She told me when Ford did their 3 month check, they said the tyre was fine. To me it looks like it needs changing.

Thoughts?

I don't agree with the Ford dealer.

Personally i would replace the tyre immediately as that is major damage to the sidewall.

That tyre is illegal and will fail an MOT.

Change immediately.

You can see the side web through the rubber.

A blow out will occur.

Yeah, the whole side structure has gone... I'd wipe the floor with whoever told her that tyre was safe... That's dangerous >_>

I'd put a complaint in to either Ford, or the head office of the dealership if honest. That's just stupid >.<

It's definitely getting changed then. I thought it looked pretty bad.

I'm not sure if I'm more shocked at them telling you it's fine when it looks like that, or them passing up on selling you a new tyre!!

Whoever passed that tyre as fit needs to look at this next-

That tyre is so badly illegal it isn't even funny.

If I saw someone driving with one that bad, I'd pull them over and order them off the road immediately.

Abysmal beyond belief.

Tell him he needs a check-up from the neck-up.

are you 100% sure that damage was on the tyre when ford done a 3 month check ?

if so i would be straight back up there

Words fail me. As Gary says are you sure it was there. Your sister is extremely lucky if that was the case. I'm suprised it still inflated.

The two gashes were definitely there, but whether or not the cords were broken on that first one I'm not sure.

My guess is that the damage wasn't as bad before (the gashes are a lot smaller than they look in the pics, although the cords underneath must still have been showing) and its just gotten worse.

In response to Ford saying it's fine, all I can say > :o
