Focus Lack Of Power

Hi all,

I recently bought a Focus 1.6 2001 for my sins which seems to lack power. It's most noticeable when driving on the motorway around an uphill incline when it actually slows down when I'm flooring it in 5th.

I've checked the air filter which is fine and thinking about changing the fuel filter and spark plugs.

Also suspect that the timing could be a notch or two out.

Anyone got any ideas?
