Focus Mk2.5 Titanium Sea Grey - Minor Mods Diary

The diary starts slightly half way through. I've already sorted the custom heater controls, and put some trim detail on the back bumper. I'm not into heavy mods - just the quick and easy bits! I might try some more major stuff eventually, but for now...

Looks excellent Mark,

Wish mine was as clean as yours now too,

May I recommend blanking your EGR valve and fitting a direct replacement Green Cotton induction filter,

Your csr will be cleaner inside, increased 2-3MPG aswell as almost no lag on acceleration.

All for under 80 pounds.

Some ford mud flaps enhance the appearance aswell as protecting the clean body work from dirt and chipping,

Unless you plan to fit side skirts, in that case a custom set of flaps would be required instead.

Both sets of flaps are very easy to fit and if purchasing from ford then mk2 flaps from 2005 onwards fit the same.

also if you ever decide to fit chrome headlights instead of the black,

I have a genuine ford set of chrome removed from my focus, I'll swap you chrome for black,

Either colour suits me as I'm just keeping them for MOT test as I've painted browes on my black set and may not pass next year,

Hi Lenny,

Thanks for your advice.

I cleaned it last night, and then used what Halfords are announcing as 'new' Meguires 'Cleaner Wax'. It supposedly covers all 3 of their 3 step Clean/Polish/Wax stuff, so I thought I'd try it, and I'm pretty impressed to be honest! I don't know if FOC have a prefered brand though!

I've already blanked the EGR, but despite doing a fair few miles, it's turned the engine management light on, so I may remove it again. I've confirmed it is the EGR High alarm, but it means I can't see if anything else goes wrong while the light is on. That said, I've been getting 55mpg on the last 3 fillups (checked at 52mpg via Road Trip on iPhone) so I'm well happy!

I've recently replaced the air filter so I'll stick with that for now (replaced like for like as the old one was knackered, warped and didn't fit - bit of an emergency buy). Do you really see a big change with a Green Cotton?

I'm tempted with the mudflaps, and I don't think I'll be putting the zetec S kit on it any time soon (finding it in Sea Grey is tough, and I can't afford to have it painted!), so may well go down this route.

Also picking up an ST grille from Ford at lunchtime today!

Thanks Dan. Yes its just the Zetec S grill as far as I know. Ford OEM, dated 2010. I should have got a part number before installing but that would have required common sense.

It's growing on me a little bit, but I still miss the chrome.

Maybe thinking of using my remaining trim detail around it and/or around the scoops.

Edit: OK, so here is the trim, taped on, and photoshop to remove the tape (badly)... just to see if it works or not. Personally I think it does, but interested in views before I stick it down properly....

I got my camera from South Korea. It's a Itronics ITB-100HD. Good quality day and night, but the bitrate is too low really. Need a hack to up it a bit. So its blocky when lots going on in bright conditions etc.

What camera do you have? I taped mine up with black insulation tape to hide the fact its a camera a bit.

Day (note mini roundabout incident!):

Thanks Barry,

Unfortunately I didn't much like the new grill, and luckily enough clips were intact for me to put the chrome one back on with the ST upper...

I think the stock grill looks better than the ZS grill in that colour and without the ZS front splitter/bumper. The chrome grill looks good on the road

Just reading through and I am sure I have read somewhere that if you drill a small hole in the blanking plate the eml goes out not 100% on this but pretty sure. Maybe someone on here could verify.

:-) glad you came to a decision on the lower grille .. Personal preference ! That's good!

Get yourself some DRL fog surrounds :-)

Where did you get your upper grille from? I want!!!

Hey,

It's direct from ford. GK Ford got it to worksop branch within 24 hrs, and it was only £32.something! Stupidly I've forgot the finis number but don't think it was hard to find. It's called 'Honeycomb effect grille' I think, and is ST standard.

If you can buy ST/RS stuff through Ford it seems to be cheaper than eBay since Ford don't manually add a zero if it says ST!
