Had a go at Reverse Parking Sensors today. Holes drilled and sensors fitted. Despite ordering sea grey the colours don't match, so will have to spray once they are all fitted. I've routed the cables through and spliced into the reverse positive feed, but the sensors are not working and it got too dark for me to see much else. In reading the manual, it appears the wireless LCD is required for everything to work as intended, so will install the LCD display tomorrow and double check the scotch lock connection.

Some pics of the holes drilled and more to be uploaded tomorrow.

Had another look at the sensors. The wiring is perfect no issues. Plugged in the wireless LCD screen into the cigarette 12v socket to test. Works perfectly well. Visual display and beeping to notify you when approaching an object.

Not happy with the colour but will spray them at some point (see images below). Car needs a good wash so ignore the dirt ^_^

Only issue now is wiring in the LCD display into the courtesy light. Need to find out which wire is positive on the courtesy light as I'm not sure which is which (see images below):

Ben,

In case you missed my reply in the guide thread ...

Providing your car is a Mk2/Mk2.5 Focus then the following is correct :-

  •    Black/Blue = Permanent Ground (-ve).
  •  Black/Yellow = Ground from PJB trigged by door switches or door modules.
  •   Orange/Blue = +ve 12v from battery saver relay (fed from fuse F104 10A),
i.e. there will be no voltage after the basttery saver timeout period has expired.

Ah thanks you are a star, I thought it might be the orange/blue cable, but would rather be sure. Many thanks

Ben

When you spray the sensors drill four holes in some carboard push the sensors into the carboard, leaving about a 2mm gap, and lightly spray a couple of coats let it dry and then a light coat of laquer , don't over do it, spray from above , you don't want to get any paint inside of the gap of the sensors or you will stop them from working.

Finally found a breakers yard with the part I need for dual reverse. Downside is it's in Cornwall, so wont arrive till weekend or next week. But only £19 for the bulb holder and as much wiring loom as possible. That's the next mod on the cards.

Wiring in the Reverse sensors screen later tonight after the gym

Big thanks to Captain Haddock & Pree for their help with my questions about the sensors.

Finally fitted the LCD screen above the rear view mirror today. I also colour coded the sensors using the official Ford Sea Grey spray paint.

I also took the opportunity to colour code my washer jets. Quite happy with the results all in all.

Bit of an update. Been a week now and still no part from the breakers yard with the bulb holder and wiring loom for an additional reverse light. Called them up yesterday and despite already taking the money from my account, they informed me that when they went to remove the part from the car last week, it was already taken out. I've given them till the end of today to either find the part or refund my money. Sounds a little shady to me.

Looking great ben ,
Nice job fitting the LCD for reverse too looks tidy,
Sorry to read of the difficulty with the reverse loom,
If they have the fog side you can use it just the same mate.
