Jasonrenn
Hi Everyone, I wonder if anyone has had this same problem and could shed any light on it!? I bought a 2005 Focus 2.0 tdci 6spd Titanium at the weekend and discovered a horrible rattling noise coming from the offside rear wheel area whenever I go over any uneven surface. Thing is, the noise stops when I brake so I put the handbrake on 2 clicks and can drive with no noise at all. Obviously this is not ideal as a fix, so was wondering if anyone had any idea at all of what it could be? I have looked around the area that its coming from and cannot see anything that is loose or has play. Any help would be much appreciated. Also... I am looking to start modding the new Focii once I've built some funds back up from the purchase. What are the best things to start with on a pre-F/L model? I am planning to get a bluefin or remap (not decided yet) and probably a DPF delete, although had a new filter at 80K but has now done 105K; should I still remove to save future hassle? What you guys reckon?
Morgie
Sounds like rear drop links cheap fix just got 2 from eBay for £8.49 inc p and p.Easy to fit. Look under the back of car and you will see cigar shaped bushes (vertical ) attatched to roll bar .

jeebowhite
Removing the DPF is a good idea and immediately gives power gain as the car can breathe easily, and thats before a remap. Other mods would be to do an EGR blank to give a bit more oomph, and upgrade the air filter to let the car breathe more easily. Also get yourself a terraclean service, those are the dogs cahoonas cleans the crud from the engine and gives it a fresh breathe of life... What you guys reckon? I've got the same rattle, o/s rear, deisel estate. A notch or two on the handbrake stops it, I can't trace it either.Roll bar bushes 'seem ok', sleeve on top of coil spring looks slightly frayed, but roll bar favourite. Aldoo
on this subject, I suspect mine needs the rear anti roll links. its a mk2 but the links look like the ones from a mk1! mk1 are straight but the mk2 look like an 'L' shape? am I totally wrong here? cheers
Mike77
Rattle from the rear is most likely the brake pads, mine did if when I first got it,,, cheap pads, didn't fit tight enough,,,, took a while to find what it was, but eventually got there,,,, changed them and its been great ever since. Aldoo
if anyone else has this problem I'd give these a try http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330807450506?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 sorted my problem for £5!! so worth a try even if it doesn't work and one last thing to add. I know it was a rattle, and its very annoying - but until its actually gone you don't realise how annoying it was!!!!!! :) Tom
