Love My New Car!

At long last I have found a car which I have actually fallen in love with!

I had a look at the lights last night and I was shocked at how bright they are, even the indicators are bright. There are the brightest lights I've seen on any of the cars I have owned. I notice I have lights in both footwells and a strip of red lights just above the glove box which I think could have been a little brighter.

I've very happy that I bought this car and I hope it serves me well in the future.

I went for a 96miles drive ( exactly 96!). After 20miles or so I noticed the mpg wasn't changing? So I reset it and it jumped from 0 to 68mpg. Nearly got it to 70 when I was around 35 miles from home. Now its averaging 53mpg while driving in town. I thought it would be more, but I guess it depends on how I drive and guess driving quicker (50-70) makes the mpg better?

I drive 12miles to work to and fro from home. 2 miles of that is dual carriageway (60-70mph) with a 50miles 'A' road of around 50mph. The rest is 30-40mph on town roads going up and downhill. This might be difficult to answer but how do you guys have any ideas how I would improve my mileage? I ccould use the cruise control when I can, like on the carriageway.

In my previous three cars, I used to rush the gears and drive too fast. But now that has changed and I'm learning to drive this car responsibly. I'm changing gears smoothly. Taking my foot off the clutch and accelerator smoothly. I've started to changing gears when the green arrow comes on but only when road conditions let me.

There is one thing I don't understand and that's the gallons per hour on the trip computer. How does it work?

I have yet to see how many miles and miles to the gallon I get out of the tank. I'll be using my dads programme to figure this out.

This week I had to take the Titanium letters off (see photo) because they were coming off. Like I said in one of my posts, I think I'll leave them off for a bit and see if I like it without the word.

Gallons per hour just tells you how much fuel you're using when stationary. It knows the rate at which fuel is flowing in to the engine and calculates it from that.

? Nope I still don't understand. When I set off it jumps all over the place then when I'm going at a steady speed it reads 99.99. When I deaccelerate it jumps all over the place again.

You are referring to the 'instant MPG' which is a bit pointless to be honest. It just tells you what MPG you are doing at that second so you can see where it is more economical (cruising) and where it's not (accelerating). You are best setting it to the average MPG which is more useful.

Glad you like your car. I love mine too and I came from a Mondeo 2.2 Titanium X Sport !!

Instant mpg becomes gallons per hour when you're at a standstill.
