cheiftain
Hi, I have a focus dual fuel, Tickford/Metatron system, It has starting problems mainly when cold, when there is no gas at the gas injector rail or in the tank it starts straight away every time on petrol, when there is gas in the system is when the problem starts, once it does start it runs fine on gas, clicks over in a few seconds, has anyone else had the problem? ScaniaPBman
I had the same problem on a gas converted car which I ran a few years ago. The poor starting with long cranking times when trying to start up with gas was ultimately solved. The culprit was the spark plug gap. When I reduced the gap to smaller than specified for petrol running, the start up was much improved. I seems that it takes more energy from the spark to ignite a cylinder full of gas mixture than a cylinder full of petrol mixture. It's an easy thing to try out. If there is no improvement then the fault is probably elsewhere.
