Nathan_M Posted July 14, 2013 Share Posted July 14, 2013 It will be 2 stretchy belts (one for PAS,ALT,WPMP and one for AC) if the engine is derived from or is still a zetec SE, i reckon its a 16v motor as well, the only way to get the belt off if this is the case would be to cut it off, the belt kit will come with a goofy plastic clip on tool that helps align and fit the belt, besides this point if the car is only 12 months old i would be straight to the dealer, it should come under some part of the warranty to be honest. It's a 2012 fiesta studio 1 25 so thought it was a 8v as it was the 60ps one. It only has 1 belt as I have no air con. There's only 4 cogs it goes round. One the water pump. Alternator. The cog it goes round on the outside plus from the looks of it the tensionor Seems like a automatic tensioner I could be wrong. Nathan_M Posted July 21, 2013 Share Posted July 21, 2013 The 4 pulleys that the belt go over and on are detailed below, the water pump is driven by the back of the belt, the alternator is at the top power steering pump at the bottom and crank pulley at the back to supply rotational force for the lot, it will be 16v I would bet my house on it. To be sure go on to www.etis.ford.com and input your registration number, it will tell you everything about your car and will probably put (sigma) after the engine I the upper box do that and report back. MartynS Posted July 21, 2013 Share Posted July 21, 2013 Assuming the 2012 is the same as the 2010 I have, the pulley marked as power steering in your diagram will actually just be an idler (in place of the air con) as the power steering is electric. Nathan_M Posted July 23, 2013 Share Posted July 23, 2013 I would have thought that it has the same layout as my doodle then, the best way to go about fixing this is to go to a local motor factor and buy one there they will use your registration number to ensure the correct belt kit, just be sure to buy a kit rather than just the belt so you get the application tools, savings online would be minimal anyway, I would recommend any major brand such as Continental, gates or Dayco, removal is easy you just cut the belt with a knife, and here are fitting instructions supplied by Continental, although after a searching Google it appears that some sigma's left the gates with tensioners and some with stretchy belts, best bet is either a Ford parts shop or motor factor either way it shouldn't be too difficult and a garage would only charge 50 quid for parts and fitting anyway. I can't find anywhere online where a actual fitting tool is? does one even exist? if not and its just a tight belt how do you fit it?
