Zico
Bit of a bump on this. Curious to confirm if the Ford - Castrol Magnatec Professional E 5W-20 is purely for the 1.0L Ecoboost and Ford - Castrol Magnatec Professional A5 5W-30 for the 1.6L Ecoboost in the ST? Ford - Castrol Magnatec Professional E 5W-20 http://ford.castrol.co.uk/ford-castrol-magnatec-professional-E-5W-20.html Ford - Castrol Magnatec Professional A5 5W-30 http://ford.castrol.co.uk/ford-castrol-magantec-professional-a5-5w30.html
DieselPig
5W20 is the thinner oil when the engine is at 100°C as designated by the 20, 30 will be thicker at 100°C. So 5W20 is the thinner oil and therefore the more fuel efficient oil as it has less drag on the engine.
Zico
Hmm, did a search under Google Shopping for 'ford oil top up kit' and the 11th item down is slightly off topic :D
iantt
5w20 1.0 ecoboost only. Its been developed for that engine only, no other oil is recomended, the ecoboost engine uses a variable pressure oil pump using a solenoid controlled by the ecu.
Zico
Hence my earlier question regarding the 1.6L EcoBoost engine in the current ST's. For anybody looking to get the 5w20 oil, they can get 4L for £39.50 here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/CASTROL-MAGNATEC-PROFESSIONAL-5W-20-Engine/dp/B00A6S8DPK/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

Zico
Well, good or bad, there eBay store has the same 5W-20 oil for £38.69 so slightly cheaper than through Amazon: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-CASTROL-MAGNATEC-PROFESSIONAL-5W-20-Engine-Oil-5-Litre-FORD-ECOBOOST-ENGINES-/121019385326?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c2d5145ee Listing states 5W-20 5L but product description shows an image for 4L. There is an additional error under 'Item Specifics' where they state the 'SAE Viscosity' is 5W30. Sloppy errors :(
iantt
Funny how it sells for ecoboost 1.0 only, in 4 litre pack but engine takes nearly 4.5. Lol
Zico
For the 1.0L Ecoboost it's 4.6 with the oil filter and 4.4 without. For the 1.6L Ecoboost it's 4.1 with the oil filter and 3.8 without. ST wins :D http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Content?bookCode=O31803&languageCode=en&marketCode=GB&VIN=&subTitleSelected=G1532539&chapterTitleSelected=G1532520&topicHRef=G1545716&viewTech=IE&div=f
