Soft brake on my 2006 2.2 tdci Mondeo had brake fluid changed 5 month ago and full service . The disc and pads have only done 12,000 miles .is it normal on Mondeo to have soft brakes or is it because of cheep pads .the brakes were soft before the fluid change

Firstly, what kind of soft do you mean? Do you mean

  1. the pedal sinks towards the floor (soft brake pedal, even when stationery)
  2. the pedal sinks towards the floor (soft brake pedal, but only when stopping vigorously from high speed)
  3. braking takes a bit of time to get going (when stopping, you press the pedal and initially there is little response, but eventually something happens; sort of the opposite of 'grabby', but the overall effect might be the same if you overcompensate)

I've found that the brakes have a tendency to 'grabby', so the opposite of 3), but it seems more pronounced on some than others (brake pad material???).

...are you saying that the brake characteristic was exactly the same before and after the fluid change? Are you also saying that you know cheap pads were used?

It takes a lot to slow the car down at high speed .long pedal travel . it reminds me when you have new pads and they need bedded in and had brake fluid changed and made no different .I have had the car for a year , bought the car from a garage they changed the front disc and pads for the m.o.t before I bought the car
